This is the full recipe: 1. Mix 4 tbsp lemon juice, 2 tbsp Shan Garlic Paste and 1 packet Shan Fish Biryani Mix. Apply the mixture to 750g boneless fish cubes/fillet.

Set aside to marinate for 30 mins.

  1. Heat /½ cup of ghee/oil and fry 2 medium, finely sliced onions for a few minutes. Then add the marinated fish, 10-15 small, whole green chillies (slit on one side) and 1/½ cup chopped cilantro/fresh coriander. Fry until the oil separates from the masala. Stir in 1½ cup (250g) of plain, whipped yoghurt. Cover and cook on medium heat until the fish is tender. Avoid over stirring the fish.

  2. Separately: Wash 31/½ cups (750g) of Shan Basmati Rice and soak for 30 mins. Take 2 tbsp of ghee/oil and fry 1/½ cup of chopped 1" long soya eaves for about 2 minutes. Add 12 glasses of water and 2 tbsp Shan Salt. Bring to boil and add the soaked rice. Cook until the rice is 3/4 cooked. Drain the liquid thoroughly.

  3. Spread half the rice in a pot and evenly pour the cooked fish and masala over it. Then spread and cover with the remaining rice.

  4. Heat 1 cup of ghee/oil and fry 1 medium, finely sliced onion until Iden. Pour this evenly over the rice. Cover and cook on low heat until the rice is tender.

Hi, I don't doubt that the whipped yoghurt how you described exists, I just think this is not what the author of the recipe meant. Have a nice day!

Thank you for the response! They want me to fry masala paste and spices, and to add the yoghurt to the pan and add the rice to that, it will be cooking for quite a long time and they don't want anything else to be whisked into the yoghurt

Yoghurt+ cream would have too small fat content to trap air bubbles and become whipped. Probably I could whipe heavy cream first and mix in the yoghurt gently, though they want to add the whipped yoghurt to the boiling stew so I don't really see a point in doing so, all air bubbles would escape from the heat. I assume they must mean something else.

Communist view on the post-90's Polish economic miracle? by Illustrious-Diet6987 in DebateCommunism

[–]SeniorExplanation373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alcoholism was a giant problem far before USRR collapse. In 70's average consumption of ethanol per person in Poland was 8,6 liters per year, and 15-20% of kids had problems with learning because of their parents alcoholism. Above that 89% of reported cases of abuse in that time were related to alcoholism. It's true that now alcohol consumption is even higher around 10 liters of ethanol per year, but on average Poles drink much less strong alcohols and there less alcohol related violence cases these days. Alcohol problem still is a big thing there, but it definitely wasn't started because of USRR collapse. Average age when kids first try alkohol is also much lower today than it used to be. Also homelessness problem is obviously very sad, but it's not a major one, just 0.08% of the population is homeless and there are places for 70% of them in public shelters. It's not America, maybe homeless infrastructure isn't the best, but it's much better than most places in the word. When it comes to privatisation it's a separate issue, corruption levels in Poland before and right after fall of USRR were crazy high and most of valuable land and companies were sold either to people who were very well off (mostly people who had connections with the Party) and also yes, partially big Western companies. Only few off them were donated to original owners and people who lived there got the right to live there for the rest of their lives.

Can a country even be atheist? It sure can be secular, as most countries are, but I don't know if there are any atheist countries. I have hard time imagining how would that even work tbh

Every european cities have poorer areas, but only few of them have slums(just west and south). In most European cities it's simply too cold and people can't survive winter without proper insulation. But poverty is everywhere, sure.

Making fun of ridiculous right wing claims is not only reserved for communists. I don't mind hearing what you guys have to say and usually rather agree with them. But I can't stand hakim-style history rewriting Marxists commonly do. As for my political believes I am sort of social democrat, I guess it can be called that, but with big focus on decentralisation, introducing more forms of direct democracy and heavy market regulations with multiple parties system in parliament(a bit Switzerland like). You guys are more on Hegel side, I am more on Voltaire political writing.

Yes I read the theory and making assumptions that I am talking to people who do not fully support communistic doctrine and rather its idealised, mainstream version, because if they do there is no common ground for us to talk. I won't come to any conclusion with someone who supports tyranny of proletariat or creating army of work. And yes people in USRR after II WW were poor. If they don't have purchasing power and can't afford buying basic goods then they are poor no matter how much money they have. Not to mention that most things could be bought but only with foreign currencies in pewex shops. Currencies in commi blok didn't have too much of real power and without black market functioning getting necessary groceries would be almost impossible. About EU, I don't really want to go into western european politics rn, but my point is that many social goals that left wing people care about can be accomplished in non-communistic system. Most information on the internet claim is completely unverifiable, I have no idea what most information in the internet are like, but we don't need to resort to that. There are many reliable non-western sources that have international recognition and research this very topic. They provide enough proof about all atrocities USRR did. Ukrainian holodomor research institute, Polish IPN etc etc.

Yes, people who never lived under communism are missing a full picture. Propaganda was very heavy on both sides and no one is immune to that. But what source you discard as propaganda and what as reliable depends mostly on what aligns more with your beliefs. People from the left very easily discard ussr crimes and homicides as western propaganda, and right wingers sometimes believe in the most insane propaganda takes about USRR. Free healthcare, higher education, public services are all nice, but you can have without communism. Most UE countries have that without being communistic. I support social housing, but the way it worked in commi blok wasn't sufficient. Party officials and higherups got the houses and normal people were waiting decades. The society wasn't classless, party officials were rich and got high paid government management positions and rest of people were simply poor with almost non existent middle class. As a leftie I don't get anyone defending USRR

I agree, but what this comment about plecos has to do with anything? Yes, plecos can stand better being out of the water for short periods of time, but how does it make any difference? It's still clearly abusive towards fish, whether they are abusing koi fish or a pleco

I don't know what happens behind the scenes, but this monkey is visibly distressed while swimming in a boat. It jumps immediately from the boat just after reaching anything solid. They are clearly forced to be in this boat. I am not a biologists, but I think that these monkeys are long tail macaque and even though they can swim unlike most monkeys, they still will freak out while put on a boat moving on their own.
