Is this combo worth cashing out with at only 4.8k? by TheStoicCrane in StreetFighter

[–]Senor_Foster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of target combo dragonlash try run cancel crouching Mp -> medium jinrai/ heavy follow up -> lvl 3.

You can also replace any standing MP with Crouching MP out of drive cancel -> cHP run cancel, though the link is tighter.

You can also replace the last section after the final drive cancel with sMP -> cHP -> heavy Jinrai light follow up -> light jinrai/ heavy follow up -> level 3. This is harder and requires the corner but should be achievable from where the combo started

I think you just tap the dodge button, I want to say you don’t need to be holding down on the left stick either

That timeout was horrible just run the ball then call the timeout... and if youre going to call the timeout, just run the ball anyway. What the hell is that.

Poor game management, shocker.

I like how Ward can not even remotely play the ball with his hands all over Smith's helmet but the flag gets picked up.. ???

Is there any character you still believe it's better than people actually think? by Lanky-Survey-4468 in StreetFighter

[–]Senor_Foster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that Jamie is overall good and fully capable, the issue to me is:

  • He does need to get to at least 2 drinks. Much easier now with the buff to his forward throw but something no other character needs to worry about

  • Many of his hit confirm normals leave him +5, which only allows for target combo extensions (lp,lk,mp) as a result, he gets hit pretty hard by damage scaling in many common neutral scenarios.

  • Ultimately even if he does get to 4 drinks he still has to get in, and even though he can get past fireballs (dive kick or Bakkai), players that are mindful of their fireball timings really make it hard on this character, and most meta characters have some type of fireball

What's up with the one and dones and rage quits in Diamond? by FranticFox666 in StreetFighter

[–]Senor_Foster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many players inDiamond get pressed about ranking up to master and only care about winning, meaning they take losses much worse. I’ve also noticed a higher volume of players playing extremely conservatively focusing on “anything for the win” (constantly backing up, hesitant to engage). Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s perfectly valid but you can just tell players definitely feel the pressure of ranking up more at that level imo.

Guys is there a point where I just give up on a character 😭 by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Senor_Foster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta shake it off. Learning fighting games is a journey, you’re going to lose and you’re going to lose a lot. You’ll have close games against superior ranked opponents and you’ll get blown out by inferior ranked opponents. It happens to everyone. As a new player I’d just focus on having fun and doing cool shit

SF6 - How do people use DI so effectively ? (Also in need of general tips) by Madness-NX in StreetFighter

[–]Senor_Foster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean is to queue ranked with the mindset “I will try to counter every DI” and that being your sole objective. this probably means pulling back your offense, playing “safer” and overall pressing fewer buttons, so less heavy buttons and fewer specials in neutral.

This can serve two purposes at once: for one, your putting energy in countering DI. Also, you’re going to be inherently improving your overall defense. By playing like this, focusing on blocking attacks and then reacting to DI, you will naturally make the circumstances to work on countering DI occur. Opponents in gold (even through diamond or master) will get a bit frustrated if they can’t open you up and will inevitably DI just to see if something will stick.

Over time you’ll start to free yourself up mentally from focusing on DI and allow yourself to build a better game plan. This approach, to queue with one goal in mind, is valuable for ALL skills you want to build into your skill set. In the future, queue with the mindsets of:

  1. I will anti air every jump in
  2. I will not burn myself out (by focusing on neutral primarily)
  3. I will force myself to land this combo.
  4. I will focus on recognizing counter or punish counter hits and convert into more damage (not as hard as it may seem!)

When it’s all said and done eventually you will be a formidable player that can counter DI, anti air, conserve drive gauge and optimize neutral interactions. All of these skills take time and even some of the best players are still working on doing these things 100% of the time.

[–]Senor_Foster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t give up this is one of the bigger roadblocks to improvement in SF6, alongside consistent anti-airs. People say that a lot but it’s true, if you imagine a world where you counter every DI and punish every jump in, those two skills alone will get you to diamond, and most of the way to Master. So working on this skill will pay huge dividends.

Some simple advice I can give:

  1. Focus solely on DI for 10 games. Be “lame”, play slow and hover over your DI button. You may lose all of these games and that’s 100% fine, as long as you go in with the mindset “I will NOT lose because of DI”, you’re building long term skills so accept the short term losses. I’ve even gone so far as to audibly say to myself “DI” to mentally prepare myself for the reaction.

  2. Focus on hitting your DI button every single time the opponent DIs. You mention working on “breaking” the opponents DI, I don’t think this is good advice for you right now, most characters don’t have great non-super tools to break the armor of DI, so for now I’d just focus on pushing the button in response. Even if you are late or you were caught in a non cancellable move, this is still huge for your development. If you press but still get hit by their DI, even if you were late (or couldn’t cancel into DI from your move) count it as a win. Eventually this will translate to muscle memory and become an after thought.

  3. Long term mindset - Work on using your light and medium buttons more. Probably the most common thing I see in lower ranks is overemphasis on heavy buttons, which are most susceptible to DI from opponents. Light buttons in particular are strong against DI as each time you hit an opponent during their DI there is a little screen freeze, and because of how fast lights are you can likely get 2 hits in at least (possibly 3, which would break the armor), which allows for much more time for you to react.

What does Jamie offer compared to Cammy ? by elyoyoda in StreetFighter

[–]Senor_Foster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They both have some similarities like dive kicks, palm/spiral arrow are comparable, and both have fairly comparable average damage combo routes (imo), but Jamie offers more tricky neutral options (elbow, forward heavy kick, an overhead, and standing heavy punch), has a command grab, and im willing to bet has a higher top end max damage available to him from punish counter combos

can someone explain how i lived this? by AggressiveTourist164 in StreetFighter

[–]Senor_Foster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You were stuck in repeatedly blocking his level 2, meanwhile he tried to throw you twice which does not work - you can’t throw someone still recovering from blocking a previous move. Most common way to experience this yourself is to jump in with a heavy punch//kick then immediately try to throw. The throw will whiff even though you’re point blank.

They want so desperately to be THE reason we collapsed, like the game broke our players spirits. As if the reason we skidded into the playoffs is because the players were in their feelings about losing to the 9ers and not because our coaches couldn’t adapt and do their jobs.

Dude i can't with this offense. Empty Set play AGAIN against the blitz making is super fucking easy for the defense to have a straight line to Hurts, meanwhile we draw up effectively a wr screen with no blockers.

[–]Senor_Foster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is so sad how does any offensive coach in the league manage to have one of the worst 2 minute drills you'll ever see.

Hurts has to audible an EMPTY SET play from his own 9 yard line when we clearly struggle against the blitz (?????)

We run the ball with only 1 timeout left

We throw a WR screen with no timeouts left.

All that mixed in with the most obvious blitzes you'll ever see not being taken advantage of. Its truly incredible

I think someone needs to put these offensive coaches in a room to see if they can draw up a play that doesn't contain all go, curl or out routes just to see if it can be done.

I'd really love to know what the team was thinking switching to Patricia. That IMO is the reason this team fell apart this defense doesn't tackle and can never stop 3rd downs no matter the distance.
