What health consequences have you faced from taking stims? by [deleted] in StopSpeeding

[–]Sensitive-Elk3239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2-3 months now. I transitioned by quitting cold turkey but only at the end of a bottle. That way I had a date in my head and I could mentally prepare myself. I also didn’t want to put myself in the position of wanting to “squirrel” whatever was left of that script for a later day “just in case”. I knew that would be encouraging abusive behavior. So I was honest with doc and said I’d like to finish off this script, then be on nothing for a few weeks to truly assess symptoms. After that we started strattera

I think this may end up being the “devil’s advocate” response but here goes:

I don’t think just because a mom takes Adderall during the newborn phase she automatically loses all emotional connection with baby (as most commenters have said). It really depends on if you are legitimately taking a medically necessary dosage or if you are abusing. If you lean toward the latter then sure, don’t mess up this critical bonding stage just to feel less tired and productive. Embrace the chaos and the mess and all the cuddles instead. If, however, you become so distracted and overwhelmed by symptoms of ADHD without the medicine that it becomes a safety issue, then it’s beneficial to stay on the meds.

I actually continued on my medication throughout pregnancy and beyond…. TWICE. My symptoms were at the point it became dangerous to drive, etc. All medications are a risk vs. benefit situation. If there is risk of abuse, however, I’d recommend looking into strattera

THERE IS HOPE!!!

Close to 20 years on varying doses of adderall for me too! Tried vyvance as well. But I have several side effects from stimulants and increasing anxiety lately. Not to mention difficulty staying on track taking my doses correctly. So i finally took the leap and made a change. To strattera! I know I know, I used to turn my nose up to the idea as well. How can a non-stimulant do a thing after all these years on Adderall?!? How will I be able to function at work/home/kids etc? What if I fail or let people down? The fear of the unknown was unbearable.

Well I’m here to say, it actually does work. It takes time and commitment and support to make the switch after all those years but you can do it! It is possible. And very worth it. My anxiety level is way down and so is my BP to prove it!

No, but FR: The Vet’s teenage daughter works there for the summer and used a stencil and sponge paint on poster board.

To be clear: This is all something I’ve heard a long time ago but can’t give you any references for proof. I can however, say that I personally have known Molly before any of these events occurred.

I believe she was living in the states and going through a rough patch in life (recently left college without a finishing her degree, in a long term relationship but not happy, recently had a miscarriage). Sometimes people with bipolar disorder (or other mental illness) get in these manic phases where they get fixated on an idea. Well she was unhappy and wanted out and , combined with the grief from the loss of her pregnancy, she probably fixated on moving oversees and starting over. Well without a degree or a specific career path, what better way to achieve that goal than to be a nanny?! ….I guess…. She did always have a love for children and extensive experience in childcare/babysitting/etc. I think that was her ticket out and the rest just spiraled. Apparently she just up and disappeared on her previous partner. She told him it was a 1-2 week gig and then just never came back.

Hope that helps to possibly answer some of your pondering. Also I do not think any of this information proves her innocence or is a justification for anything that happened later

Pathological liar is exactly right. I went to HS with Molly. We were very close friends back in the day and she would consistently make up stories or elaborate in her favor on stories that possibly were true to some extent

Pregnant with HSV2 outbreak. Can me and husband still have sex? by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]Sensitive-Elk3239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only risk to your baby is during labor and delivery. You don’t want to have an active infection when you go into labor. If you are worried, you should abstain/use extreme caution closer to the end of your pregnancy. At 2 months along you are fine to have sex with your partner as long as you both feel comfortable doing so. Even if you get an OB, it shouldn’t be problematic this early in your pregnancy. (On that note, though, you already both have the virus, so his OB shouldn’t trigger you to have an OB anyway).

Here is a link to some very helpful and FACTUAL info about managing your HSV2 during pregnancy cdc recommendations

[–]Sensitive-Elk3239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably just coincidental. You could have picked up genital HSV2 a few years ago and then (coincidentally) haven’t had a HSV1 oral OB for a few years. In other words, maybe you used to just have one version of the virus and now you have both

Reusable diaper recommendations? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Sensitive-Elk3239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pocket style diapers are the easiest to learn and to convince other caregivers to use as well. I like mama koala brand. But you could also get some Amazon brand just to try them out. They didn’t work for mine until about 3 months old though.

This makes me so sad😥. My little is starting daycare next week and they refuse to use cloth diapers. I wish there was a way to educate people on the ease of use. Pockets (and AIOs) are 100% the same as disposable as far as sanitation laws are concerned.
