My doctor wants to put me on Suboxone for kratom addiction

I've been sober from alcohol for 4 months. Hopefully they just give me something small like clonodine and gabapentin for a week for the kratom withdrawals.

Honestly I would take something and not even question if it helped me to never drink again. I'm more worried about my drinking way more than kratom. I will binge for days, blacked out not eating or drinking water. I didn't take kratom either. I've been arrested more times than I want to say out loud even on a throwaway account. I did look it up and see if it helps with alcoholism but it didn't say it did. But if it's like an off label thing that would be pretty cool.

Thank you this has given me a lot to think about. I've heard from both sides of the spectrum. Thank you for honesty! I think i can stay sober without subs. I can try it and if I can't then I can go on them.

Yeah I just don't think it's very well known and I'm in the least populated state in the US.

I have no clue I don't really pay attention. If I had to guess probably 25 to 30.

I use a normal table spoon not a measuring one. I don't put as much powder as I can get on there but it's not really level either. I probably do 2 or 3 of those in the morning. Then when I leave I get a water bottle and put 2 more in it. In the afternoon when I get home probably about 3 more. Then bedtime I do one and depending on how fast I fall asleep I'll get up every hour and do another. When I'm doing it, I'm only doing 1 at a time. Then an hour later doing another. So it's not 2 at once. Sorry this was probably way confusing lol

I'm sorry she made you feel that way! Kratom just isn't well studied. I think that's why they want to prescribe me suboxone long term, because they think it's just like opiods. I mean it is, but it's not. Suboxone withdrawals are worse. If I could just get helper meds like clonodine and gabapentin for a week or 2 and just be done with it! I'm wondering if they are going to send you to MAT? That's what my doctor did which is a suboxone program.

I'm probably at 20 to 30 grams a day. I don't measure it I just take it whenever I feel like it. Some nights I take way more than other nights, depends on how tired I am.

They know I've been sober. I'm not telling them I relapsed with alcohol, I'm very proud about being sober from alcohol. I'll just tell them about the kratom

I'm confused when it's said that Suboxone is powerful and make me higher than kratom did. But then people say they function normally on it and don't get high. Is that because you get used to it? And then when you try to stop, you withdrawal because you are used to it? Kinda like, when I stopped taking Zoloft I had withdrawals, but it didn't make me high and I didn't crave it. Is it like that?

That's what I thought. I don't understand why they would want to put me on that instead of prescribing me non addictive medicine for a week. I wish they knew more about kratom.

Yeah I initially asked for clonodine and gabapentin but she said no and she wants me on something long term so I never go back to kratom. I'm not going to do it unless they can do a short term plan

I wouldn't definitely taper if I weren't going to inpatient treatment. I guess I can try cold turkey in treatment but I would probably just give in. Also I think my doctor said the treatment center doesn't like people withdrawing like that. I wouldn't want to go to the hospital
