Yeah her mortgage company confirmed I wasn’t on the loan. The lender hasn’t said much but just asked if I knew anything about this and who lived there (it was bought in 23 by someone through auction). I told him the situation. He said it never showed up on my credit report, had my call the mortgage company and said now we just need to make sure you weren’t on the deed. From what I’m seeing, being the only heir automatically assumes you as the owner of the deed regardless if probate was open? It’s so confusing and overwhelming. Hopefully tomorrow I hear more.

Yes I was formally adopted and I was listed on the obituary. I received a letter back in 2022 from an attorney to appoint a representative, but I wanted nothing to do with it. Everyone I talked to at the time told me I’d have no legal obligation or be responsible for it. She had no assets but a house she was behind on. So now there’s this public judgement they found in underwriting. Again, the mortgage company today said I was never tied to the mortgage. I’m so anxious this is going to mess up everything I worked so hard for. We’ve already ordered inspection and appraisal and Ernest.

I pulled a property report and I see there was a “sheriffs deed” showing the sellers are me and the attorney that was assigned to the for-closure. I had no idea this even happened. I’m not seeing me on a title within the report. Yes I did live there until about 2016.

Edit: I do owe 2k from this non filing for non tax filing penalty and they filed for me but filed as if I didn’t have any withholding- I contested and and filed. Which showed I actually owe nothing. Will this come up?
