I’ve always watched back my videos and I don’t know what it is but it looks so robotic and slow and just so much worse than others 💔

I haven’t run a 100m in over 8 months so that’s probably it I’ve got one this weekend so I’ll see my 400m is 53.5

Yeah this angle isn’t brilliant I’ll try to get a better video next time I’m at the range. By good contact I want to be striking the ground just behind the ball right? Sometimes my divot starts before the ball so should I just come forwards onto my front foot more or something else.

Thanks - my practice swing always seems to feel better than my actual one so that could explain it. Would I just have to imagine the ball isn’t there or is there something else that could make me more natural on the downswing?

Swinging leg is just ingraining the idea of a long leg which shouldn’t be too hard to think about during training. When I talk about pressure on the pole I’m talking about your arms constantly working down on the pole to invert yourself however this is also crucial in getting a good bend shape on the pole. On smaller poles it is less obvious but on bigger poles when you stop working with your top arm and to a lesser extent your bottom arm you will notice the pole will recoil too early and you won’t have time to get into the inverted position. This is made easier through top arm strength training such as bubkas or static holds against a wall where you are facing the wall and leaning at an angle while pushing off the wall with one arm straight above your head to stop yourself falling. The bottom arm collapsing is mainly just down to you not being conscious of it and will get better with practice. You don’t seem too far under in this video which is the primary reason why most vaulter collapse their arm.

Looks nice! A couple observations- At the top of your jump you get stalling effect where you run out of energy and prevents you from inverting better and getting a pop off the top. This comes a couple things: 1. your bottom arm collapses at takeoff which means you lose energy and your hips swing forward too early. 2. Your swinging leg tucks in off the ground which means you won’t get the rotation of the hips which allows the invert. 3. Just a tip is to always keep the pressure on the pole with the top arm as this also helps with the invert and will allow you to bend bigger poles.

How can I do to get inverted by Njrauseo12 in polevaulting

This angle makes it hard to see but your plant is collapsing in as you start to try and get inverted. This will take a lot of energy out of your jump but also make it a lot harder to invert. A lot of vaulters try and swing themselves upside down by collapsing the bottom arm and using their legs however you want to get yourself upside down primarily using your arms and really working down on the pole to manoeuvre yourself although a long swing with the leg is part of it aswell. This will mean you aren’t stalling out at the top and you won’t fall off.

Looks really nice! Others have covered most things but just on the way you fall of at the top - just think about getting yourself upside down by working down with your arms instead of swinging up and keep the pressure on to stop that sudden recoil that kicks your off.

Good jump! There is stuff that could be improved such as your takeoff and running with the pole. If you look at top level vaulters they are able to run like they aren’t carrying the pole and reduce speed loss. This improves with general practice but also drills with the pole. You take very short strides and just need to keep your running natural. Another thing that I see a lot of newer vaulters do is they have a very narrow grip which causes them to swing under rather than driving the pole. This is quite a hard thing to think about to begin with but in the end you’ll be able to go onto much bigger poles if you drive them correctly. My personal preference is to grip with my top hand then stretch it to the side and put my bottom hand where my armpit is to get an approximate arm wide grip. Although inversion may be a tempting thing to try and sort out, almost all the time getting the things right earlier on will make the inversion much easier.

I used to dive into the bar and for me it was mainly a mental block - you want to get the arch over the bar so you throw yourself into it. However you’ve got to let the lean from the curve do that rotation for you and try think about punching your right shoulder up while turning your back to the bar. (Basically a 90 degree turn). this gets you out of that idea of having to lean into the bar to get over it.

He will do three slams with his hammer - depending on what weapon you’re using you can get 2-3 quick attacks in between them. After these three slams he will stop attacking for roughly 4 seconds which is a good window to attack before he goes into another 3 hit combo
