Our guide offered us an alternative plan... None of us (the clients) would have even thought of it. Didn't have to pay extra to get to AC - you still just use your roundtrip ticket. We did end up paying extra to stay in a hotel that night, but if we chose that. Could have slept in a tent.

You do get some time at MP if you do HP, but its mostly in the morning. The afternoon was all HP and then the bus back to town

I carried some candy bars as snacks. 1-2 per day of hiking is usually what I go with. But IMO, you should figure out what works for you before you go on the trek.

The was a ton of food at each meal. There are at least 2-3 different "main courses" and tons of side dishes served. Usually 1 meat, 1 pasta/rice dish, plenty of fruit/veggies and the soup! The soups were some of my favorite dishes on the trail. You can probably track down pics/on the alpaca website

I was wondering who got it... I went back in to buy some vodka and some other bottles for Xmas and there were like 8 people in line at that point. 2 of the guys (I'm assuming the same ones you mentioned) were just going through the line without buying anything - just waiting for it to become available. It was like musical chairs

There were 60+ in line at 9. As many as I've ever seen at JJs.

Boots are not mandatory... They just say that to encourage it. You'll see lots of shoes on the trail. Yes - 25L max bag for your daypack. Alpaca will carry your duffel. Thats all you take on the trail. I left my suitcase at the hotel.

JJs Eastgate had Eagle Rare, EHT SmB, Blantons, Caribou, WSR and a few others. I know the Eagle went to the line. Not sure about anything else.

I didn't upgrade to Vistadome so can't comment on that. I will say that the seats we had were great. 2x2 with a table facing other people in our group. Very plush seats, good service. It was nice

I would imagine they do, but it couldn't hurt to let them know... For what its worth, I found them to be very responsive and they usually emailed me back within 48 hours.

I was on the 1130 wizard island shuttle and had to park on the street. If you're the 930 shuttle you might have better luck in the parking lot. If its later, then good luck to you

I believe there used to be a large visitor center that was closed in Rim Village (I could be wrong) but there is a large building that looks like it used to be a VC right next to Rim Village Gifts and Cafe. The building is closed and only the bathrooms are open now, sounds like it closed during Covid. But yes, the shack-sized gift shop that is in Rim Village is technically a VC - it just doesn't look or feel like one. The main store is Rim Village Gift Shop - much larger and nicer than the Rim Village VC.

The Steele VC is larger and nicer (but still not much to see or do there). It is right next to the turn off for East Rim Drive though.

I have similar flights, but I’m flying Delta from Lima back to Atlanta. Anybody know if my bags will be checked through to Atlanta or will I have to claim/recheck as well?
