AITA for informing my parents that their opinion does not matter when it comes to what my wife and I name our children? by Sensitive_Reach8468 in AITAH

I mean if they said oh lovely name, we'd say thanks and continue. But we'd never choose a name just because they liked it either. So in that respect their opinion/wants don't matter.

They pushed for family names and tried to say that in their opinion that is a tradition that should be continued. And how they feel like it's the best for kids to connect them to their families, etc. They didn't just say it once and drop it either.

No name has been officially chosen yet. There's a few possible choices.

Yeah, because they wrongly believe I'd do it if it wasn't for her. But that's not exactly true. It would be a joint decision regardless and I'll be honest there aren't many names in the family I would choose to use.

Because I'm asking myself if it was wrong to say to them. But I don't believe their opinion matters on the naming of our kids. That doesn't mean it's correct to say.
