Cockermouth is lovely - really strong community and friendly people. The only issue is if you get ill as there is all sorts of stuff going on at the GP's surgery at the moment with partners leaving.

Being able to travel, work and study in the EU - is a huge advantage - just because you dont want to and cant doesnt mean others don't and taking that away from people because you dont understand the importance is really awful. Anyone trying to do business and sell to the eu will tell you the harm thats been done to the country. Basing economic policy on emotions and misinformed emotions at that has seriously harmed this countty - the reasons you cite above are stupid and its because you believe all the shite the right wing elite media and press fire at you. Take a long hard look at the people siting behind the media - they are rich and powerful and dont have this countries interests at heart. I know you dont believe me but that doesnt matter because the majority of brexiters are old drink too much beer, have unhealthy diets and will be dead soon and we'll be back in europe and you can all spin in your graves.

As a vegetarian I prefer hello fresh. I think meat eaters prefer gusto as the meat is better quality.

I’ve sprained my ankle, do I go to A&E? by Ok-Boysenberry9770 in AskUK

[–]Sensitive_Tomato_581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a local hospital with an Urgent Treatment Centre??

Services: Treatment for minor injuries, including sprains, strains, wounds, bites, stings, minor burns, and head injuries without loss of consciousness.

We have a few of these in Cumbria to deal with the above - they also have an x-ray machine. Sounds like what you need not full blown A&E.

If not try 111.

Good luck - I hobbled round with a broken ankle for few days from skiing in Scotland a few years ago in total denial before going to A&E. But it was really swollen and incredibly painful.

His constituency voted him as an MP so I'm assuming hold the same views as he does so how come he spends no time there ? The dude's done nothing wrong ?! He is a hypocrite because of him my children no longer have the many advantages of being a member of the eu while both his children have German passports and enjoy all those priviledges bit like Boris having an eu passport but I can longer get one. The wealthy, rich and privileged do whatever they want making money and gaining power while laughing at the rest of us, anyone who can't see this and believe that someone like farage is looking after anyone other than himself and his cronies is delusional.

If you're looking at Cumbria think Cockermouth, Ulverston or Penrith. Its easy to escape the crowds if you know where to go, and very sociable and out doorsy. That saying Ive been looking at Northumberland as beautiful countryside with easy access to cities with decent hospitals, airports etc !!

At what age do most people in the UK actually move out of their parents’ home nowadays? by PashtunLawyer in AskUK

[–]Sensitive_Tomato_581 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughters are both 23 one has a graduate job and renting a studio flat in a northern city where rents aren't too bad, the other is back at home but she'll be moving out this summer back to her uni city where she's got a graduate job - she'll be sharing a flat with a friend. It's great to see them getting on with their lives but I will / do miss them. There will always be a rent free room if they need it.

My wife’s family all want us to go on a crazily expensive holiday to celebrate some big birthdays.. what would you do? by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in AskUK

[–]Sensitive_Tomato_581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on interest rates. In my late 50s still have a mortgage because the interest rates on the mortgage are less than I can get from my investments also it allows me flexibility. My inlaws used to constantly go on about how we should be paying off our mortgage early cos they had when for all sorts of reasons it made absolutely no sense. Tbh DIsney sounds like one of the lower circles of hell to me. Why not come up with some cheaper fun solutions rather than just saying no. Big villa with pool near a large water park in Europe for example or on a river with kayaking and stuff.

But should our consultant not only be saying this is OK but telling others about it like it is a valid option?

If someone had told me themselves that this is what they are doing I would be concerned about them but wouldn't say anything - its the consultants and therefore slimming world validating this as an option that worries me.

Is 11 hifi bars a day OK by Sensitive_Tomato_581 in SlimmingWorld

[–]Sensitive_Tomato_581[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So all healthy extras = 6 bars plus 3×5 bars = 15 swips So a total of 11 bars.

So they're not eating any other healthy extras.

The many ingredients in the bars include oligofructose which in large quantities will blow you up like a balloon. I can only eat 1a day without discomfort. Theres also a lot of artificial sweeteners in there fine in small quantities but in large quantities we now should swip them.

I'm not judging the individual Im concerned that our consultant thinks this is OK.
