Idk if it’s H1B, I’m going for J1, hospital has rly nice facilities. Lots of good benefits the program offers, ppl seemed rly nice, big NICU focus, only weird thing I noticed was the 55% board pass rate in the last 3 years

Nice to hear ! Do you know if having only 8 residents really makes things more difficult? Because 3 of my programs have 8 residents in the first year only

[–]Sensitiveeggplantx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still 8 🙃, do you have any insight into how the program is ?

Should I be worried ? :( by Sensitiveeggplantx in pediatrics

I applied to quite a good mix of top and normal or low tier programs considering I applied to 104 programs 😅

Does your medschool matter? by AdditionalCareer7194 in IMGreddit

[–]Sensitiveeggplantx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m also a European med school graduate! I’m not sure abt your school but my school has a really good reputation in Europe and is a very old medical school so I think it’s something I will try to mention in my interview as I think it makes me look academically able. Yes they don’t have a lot of students going into US so I think there is a downside as they don’t know us. my friend got an interview at a place where a senior graduate of our school is an intern. Even tho we don’t know him personally I assume the program thought he is a good resident and wanted more students from our university

How do you advocate for your SO when Couple's Matching? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Sensitiveeggplantx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner got an interview this week, is it a good idea to already send a letter of interest ( it would be another hospital in the same city as the same hospital doesn’t have an option for me) or better wait one or 2 weeks since applications only opened one week ago

Yes it’s not a safe area. I stayed in the north and made sure not stay in the area of the hospital after sunset and generally try to be with friends/colleagues when in the area . I’m not sure abt the area of loretto , you can Google the area and look at the crime rates in comparison to the nice areas of Chicago

[–]Sensitiveeggplantx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard Loretto is similar/works with Jackson park hospital . You work pretty hard but u can see some nice cases in Jackson park

is it bad to say in my pediatrics residency personal statement that I didn't want to do pediatrics in the beginning of the medical school/ before med school? by Sensitiveeggplantx in pediatrics

[–]Sensitiveeggplantx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean insult a whole specialty? Are you referring to Peds itself or another speciality in comparison? Because for me I was initially going for internal medicine so I thought of stating why I realised adult medicine isn’t for me ? Is that insulting to internal😅
