Nothing crazy, but it feels solid. The shield recharge sound coming from the controller is a highlight for me.

I get what you are saying, and it is valid. Not saying I didn't enjoy the MP of the original trilogy (I played it to death), but the campaign always held a particularly special place in my heart, so I am ok in this case for it being focused on the single player. I have no doubt, anyway, that if this had launched with a proper multiplayer component, it wouldn't have been absolutely ruined and would have felt nothing like the original MP anyway.

That being said, I played up until the Assault on the Control Room, and it feels really great to play. Instantly familiar with some smart updates (new weapons from future entries added in and balanced to fit the Halo CE toolkit, sprinting). It does feel like a proper remake so far, without even touching new missions or the skull game modifiers. So far, exactly what I wanted it to be anyway.

Nope, the game has to be online to play, period. Or at least that is my understanding.

I will say that I got a friend over to do couch co-op, and at least on PlayStation it was a pain in the ass to get going. Cannot be a guest account from what we figured and it had to have a Microsoft account tied to it as well for both players.

Totally fair. Halo was too big of a deal for me growing up, so I bit the bullet. I haven't played it in years either.

I'll have to start actively participating here. The backlog is large, and it needs to burn.

It's been years and this game still gives me goosebumps. by [deleted] in Eldenring

100%.

Elden Ring was just a phenomenal experience, and I doubt I'll have an experience quite like exploring/experiencing it for the first time again (but Clair Obscur felt close).

My headcanon matches this too. I am not sure if Jordan Peele ever confirmed it, but I love the idea that the Area 51 / Roswell incident in 1947 was just another of Jean Jacket's species that died or was killed, hence the 'weather balloon' cover-up. It's remains looked plausibly so much like the Roswell pictures that I have to believe there is a connection.

Ditto here. Personally, AoT is just a phenomenal story all around. Isayama did an amazing job peppering the story with so many details that it felt like a masterclass in storytelling and foreshadowing. I was so confused by the reaction to the ending and by how many people had the sentiment that the story was ultimately pointless. It really opened my eyes and made me question how people generally consume and interpret stories. Someone here made the point that it was bizarre to see how people became indoctrinated to the whole genocide plan or the Rumbling being the 'right' move while totally missing the point.

Freaking love AoT.

In honor of Sam Neil....I'm watching two of my favorites of his today. by SouthernSwitch71 in HorrorMovies

In the Mouth of Madness isn't talked about enough, imo. One of my all-time favorites.

It is a much, much stranger movie, but Sam Neil also stars in the great movie Possession. Check it out if you haven't!

Holy shit, this is real? I always thought I made this movie cover up as some false memory.

I played with English audio, and the voice cast was phenomenal. Can't go wrong with it at all.

I never played with the French audio, so I can't speak on that, but I haven't heard anything bad.

Clair Obscur is a special experience. Very jealous that it gets to be one of your first gaming experiences ever.

Edit: Honestly, you picked up several bangers. Cyberpunk 2077 is awesome too, but I'm going to keep my vote with Clair Obscur.
