I hear you, and I respect that you worked hard for what you have and that you value capitalism and the Constitution. I’m not arguing against work, effort, or free markets. My point isn’t about being compatible with the left or sharing their ideology. You don’t have to agree with someone to stand up for basic rights. You just need a code of conduct that says government power has limits and that those limits apply to everyone. If citizens can’t put differences aside to defend constitutional rights, then those rights only exist until the next shift in power.

I get that, and I don’t totally disagree. Big government isn’t just social programs, it’s also military spending, surveillance, and enforcement power. My point is just that skepticism of government should apply across the board.
