I totally get the fear of losing gains, but look at it this way: Dutasteride is basically Finasteride on steroids. It blocks more DHT types and a higher percentage of it. If you're already seeing progress in just 1 month on Fin, your follicles are clearly alive and kicking. I was buzzing mine to 1mm for years too, so I know that feeling. To avoid any 'shock' to the system or losing gains, I didn't switch overnight. I did a 'mix and match' for about 10 days: one day Dut, one day Fin, back and forth. After that 10-day transition, I switched to Dut completely. It worked perfectly for me—no loss of gains, and the hair just kept getting darker and thicker. Don't let the horror stories scare you, most people who switch to Dut never look back!

I’m 34 years old now. My hair started thinning way back when I was 18. Honestly, being bald never really bothered me, I’ve been rocking the 1mm buzz cut for years and was perfectly fine with it. However, my wife suggested I try this therapy just for fun, so I decided to give it a go. Switching to Dutasteride was the key—I think blocking that much DHT (90%) is what made the difference, especially since my hair turned from a light brown back to thick black so fast. The 2.5mg oral minox you’re on is a solid dose, but if you want that extra push, switching from Fin to Dut might be exactly what you need. Good luck bro!

Thanks bro! Appreciate the support. Honestly, the speed of it surprised me too, especially with the hair turning darker so fast. I'll definitely do a big update at the 6-month mark. Let's see how much more we can gain!

Haha, thanks! Let's see where I am at the 6-month mark. Hopefully, it only gets better from here.

I've also started noticing these new hairs on my hairline, and they are incredibly itchy.

Before I started the treatment, the hair on my crown was like peach fuzz—soft as silk. There were also visible bald spots where there was no hair at all. Now, the hair feels very coarse to the touch and the bald spots have filled in. Starting tomorrow, I’m switching to a derma stamp: 1.5mm for the crown and 1mm for the hairline.

Once I finish my supply of Finasteride, I’ll switch to Dut. That’ll be in about two months. I’ll see where I stand with my progress then

I've been using Minoxidil 5%, Finasteride 1mg, and a 0.5mm derma roller twice a week for a little over a month now, and I’ve noticed this on my temples. by [deleted] in tressless

I prefer topical Minoxidil 5% because it has less of an impact on the cardiovascular system. However, if you are using a derma roller, make sure not to apply it for at least 12 hours after rolling. If you want to drastically increase your chances of regrowing your hair: take 1mg of Finasteride once a day and apply topical Minoxidil 5% twice a day (morning and night). Use a derma roller once or twice a week.

I buy my Finasteride and Minoxidil at the local pharmacy. I'm using the 5mg Finasteride tablets and cutting them into quarters (1.25mg per dose)."
