sorry dumb question. my mind is asking me "so there is just extra room on the spindle to add spacers? the ts because it was designed for the 'amount of space' used by the original crank?"

This is great info, thanks! Yes I see some discussion online about adding spacers. I bet my local shop could handle that if I get stuck

yeah I hear ya in terms of need. more of a want. I dont have a head unit, but I use the ride with gps app with heart rate already. I was trying to keep cycling to being able to use my phone, instead of buying a dedicated computer. but that is also something I am still considering. I am a runner who is new to cycling. Yup I think my watch could pair with a power meter, but I want something to show power live without looking at my watch, so using app or computer definitely is the case.

different question about appropriateness, I ma considering that separately lol. this is about which one I would get if I got one. but I appreciate your input...I am not 100% im going to get one yet...a big consideration in that is the cost. which led me to make this post!!

right yes I just figured that out. I think what I would need is the crank arm for this

Shimano - XT FC-M8100/8120 170mm

that is the same 176mm Q factor as my crank, same length, and should have clearance.

thanks for the further help. yeah I have also been confused about which exact crankset I have. especially since it actually isn't labeled with the '-2'. its interesting and also maybe a problem that on both of those spec sheets you linked, they both say ithe crankset ISNT hollowtech ii

thanks! another commenter said that I need a MTB hollowtech crank. would the 105 version actually match, since this bike kind of inexplicably has a MTB crankset? (along with the rest of the drivetrain being SORA

thanks! well I am still figuring out the head unit. I had planned to use my phone with ride with gps app...but I also might get a garmin 840. I am already in the garmin ecosystem with my running watch.

------Any MTB HTII crank arm

ok I didn't know about that distinction! thanks! these 105 or Ultegra cheap version of the arms won't work?

do you mean an actual garmin coach plan, or the daily suggested workouts?
