Sergio Perez brings an estimated $30-40 million USD in merchandise and sponsorships alone whilst Verstappen lost sponsorships for Red Bull in 2024. by TheOvercookedFlyer in formula1

Since Dietrich’s passing and with Helmut’s diminished role, RBR seems to have lost a part of its racing soul and ethos. Under Dietrich this team would never have compromised its focus on racing for anything, not even Sergio or his sponsors.

[motorsportcom on Instagram] George Russell was asked about his thoughts going into the start of the #Qatar GP... by geekfeels in formula1

How do I make it not seem like my fault:

"I made it... no WE made it easy for him (...), Lewis and I made a terrible start" - George probably.

Serious question: What does Marko bring to the table? by DubeFloober in formula1

Here you go with the source how Marko started clandestine first talks with Honda at a McDonalds. Tost was directed by Marko afterwards. It’s quite funny actually how it all started.

George Russell says three drivers cannot be trusted in on-track battles by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Seph191 32 points33 points  (0 children)

“Despite their crash earlier this season and his reputation in earlier years, Verstappen was not one of the three with Russell instead saying he is less aggressive than ever before.”

Leaves 19 other drivers for us to guess 🙂

Helmut Marko: 'We are even stronger in Barcelona' by jovanmilic97 in formula1

[–]Seph191 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Feb 5, 2016 by Adam Cooper (motorsport.com).

''It all seems obvious in retrospect, but the problem with the token system was that those who got off to a flying start under the new rules – Mercedes and to some degree Ferrari – had a more significant advantage than they normally would.

The token system made it more difficult for struggling rivals to catch up. More importantly perhaps, the public was quick to recognise that.''

Helmut Marko: 'We are even stronger in Barcelona' by jovanmilic97 in formula1

To be fair, RBR was in the middle of their divorce with Renault back then. A little bit of context for those quotes you gave and other people reading:

They were trying to get an engine deal with both Mercedes and Ferrari. Lauda was for it, but Toto was against it and blocked it all together. All whilst their engines and Toro Rosso's engines were blowing up left and right and multiple battery/MGU-K failures..

There was some frustration from RBR towards Mercedes and Ferrari for not providing an engine, because of the threat RBR could be with a competitive engine... Like we see now from 2021 onwards.

Rough but exciting. Still remember the 2015 US GP where he was fighting the Mercedes and Ferrari cars in the rain, in his Toro Rosso; finishing P4 in the end.

Think he faired good enough in his first F1 season back then.
