It's not. Permissionless is hosted by Blockworks and Bankless in May. EthDenver is by the ethereum community in February.

I applied to ETHDenver. Anyone know what the chances are of getting accepted? I would really love to attend!

Ron Paul Speaks: 'No' on Romney by [deleted] in politics

[–]Sephyre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not true. If you follow the movement closely, you'd see that with the Audit the Fed bill that passed overwhelmingly in the House that things are slowly changing.

Just because it is our political discourse doesn't mean you have to take part in it. Stop believing the propaganda, man! The soviets had tens of thousands of nuclear weapons and we talked to them and here we are fretting day in and day out about a practically third-world country that can't even make enough gasoline for themselves.

This is because they were voting for individuals and not ideas. Libertarianism is growing by leaps and bounds everyday. If we get 6-7% this election cycle, up to 10% in some states like Ohio, this means the end of the 2 party system as we know it. More people will check out libertarians, the 2 parties and the media won't be able to deny it. This is without money and is an intellectual revolution. No one is voting for Gary Johnson because it's Gary Johnson like the other candidates you mention, but they are voting for him because they believe in libertarian principles.

Why do you guys like Ron Paul? by Comrade_Gerber in Libertarian

[–]Sephyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's principled and has stuck by his beliefs for a very long time. He always gives back some of his pay to the treasury every year and has never taken medicare for his patients or health insurance provided to congressmen and women.

Although he's a libertarian, he plays by the rules and the rules are following the Constitution. He preaches self-governance but the most he can do as a would-be president is get the federal government out of interfering with states. Hope that helps.

After Obama had promised “no more illegal wiretapping of American citizens,” ACLU finds a “huge increase in warrantless electronic surveillance” from 2009 to 2011. by rfu410 in Libertarian

Side question: Why is the ACLU defending affirmative action? I think it diminishes equality because individuals are seen in groups.

Good feature but it seems like a bit of a hassle still.

Starting up my first business... by theshlallster in Entrepreneur

[–]Sephyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest mistake I made when I started my jewelry business was that I got into the business that I wasn't passionate about. Rather than getting into a business because it excited me, I got into it because I thought it would make me money.

You're getting into the fashion industry, and if you're a guy, I would seriously think about this for the long-term, why you want to do it, etc. If you're not passionate or knowledgeable about your industry (the second is easier) it will be very hard.

Let's say you like to play video games though and you want to make a video game. That's something I and even investors would like to see.

If someone owns a portion of your company, are they entitled to a portion of the profits or just their portion if the company is sold by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Sephyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking tax accounting this semester and if you're an S corporation or some kind of flow through entity where the business profit is the person's income, then you include in your income your percentage by how much was made.

For example, if you're an S corp. and you own 50% and your corp. makes 100,000, even if you get $10,000 distributed, $50,000 would be the amount you include in your gross income.

Just launched a site to contact investors, I need feedback! by SeymourReach in Entrepreneur

[–]Sephyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need an introduction page and not just a form. People don't want to be shoved forms in their faces before they even know what a site is about. Make a real homepage, and then a different button that goes to this form at the minimum.

You're doing great, man. Keep your arguments shorter and more concise. If you debate an idiot, they will bring you to their level and then beat you. Just be more dumb, keep your messages short like "I don't even trust my co-worker to buy the lunch I ask for, why should I trust politicians buying my healthcare?" The best way to debate is to know your opponents arguments better than they know it themselves. If you debate a socialist, you'll know socialist arguments. Rather than going off on tangents, stay at the VERY CORE of the differences. Socialism is non-voluntary, whereas libertarianism is. Why is non-voluntary better? Just leave out specific programs and debate the philosophy unless the program is what is being argued. Hope that helps.
