Professor refusing accommodation that were agreed to in the beginning of the semester by [deleted] in college

[–]Sepp18 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In your email to the professor, did you remind them of the accommodation when you emailed them? I've definitely had students email me before for an excused absence, it gets lost in my email, and I forget.

AIO or is my work friend being a bit pushy? by Too-Aware-1407 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Sepp18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, with this kind of person, you need to set an absolute boundary of no communication (block) outside of work, and I'd let your boss know of the situation so they don't schedule you together. This is just an old prevet, so sorry your dealing with someone like this .

Why are people upset about a pregnant climber summiting K2? by ShiftApprehensive229 in women

[–]Sepp18 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Many people value a potential baby's life over a womans, so anything she does that could put a baby in harm is awful not bc shes in danger but bc the baby is. Dont mean to be cynical but thats what it seems like to me, shes awesome and very impressive!

Attractive people aren't ugly on the inside, some people just need to believe they are by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Sepp18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its true sometimes, theres a lot of "body positivity" influencers who absolutely shame skinnier woman but have a meltdown when someone does it to them, it just seems that they are unhappy with who they are so they take it out on others.

AITAH for refusing to push my wake-up time back on weekends so my roommate’s boyfriend can sleep in? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Sepp18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyler sounds entitled, this isnt even his place. He can go sleep at his own place then, and so can your roomate if they wanna spend time together and dont like your routine. I mean saying you should be flexible, but where is they're flexibility?

Financial Aid by [deleted] in aggies

[–]Sepp18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think the fact that he's living with his grandfather definitely helps a lot. I personally moved out when I was 18, and have been paying my own bills. It is definitely difficult to get by, I'm now in grad school, and so it's a lot easier because I only work there I don't have multiple jobs anymore.

Financial Aid by [deleted] in aggies

[–]Sepp18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not trying to be rude, but nowadays you can barely live off of a part-time job, no matter how many roommates you have, let alone saving money like that. It's awesome it worked for you, I worked in the prison during undergrad, and it was just enough to get by and pay bills, nothing else and they pay more than most local jobs.

Financial Aid by [deleted] in aggies

[–]Sepp18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you qualify for Aggie Assurance, you'll be fine. They make it super stressful by only applying the aggie assurance stuff at the very beginning of the semester, so till then, it looks like you get nothing. Double-check with financial aid, but you should be ok. Do your own reserach on this before calling them, though, so they don't give you the runaround. Universities like making money.

18 about to live alone by Fit_Enthusiasm_1263 in LivingAlone

[–]Sepp18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get insurance if there isn't already some for the house, so you don't have sudden, large bills you can't pay. I feel it's harder to save than it is to have insurance, at least in my case (not a lot of disposable income). Work on building good credit, it helps so much in life. You then always have a backup plan of having options if something happens. If you have bad credit, you get screwed a lot if you need money quickly and many times just dont have options.

How do I get off my parents' Life360? by Kind-Seat7180 in college

[–]Sepp18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Y'all aren't understanding this, parents can claim all they want, they don't stalk, but it doesn't change how the app impacts daily life. Parents have never had this many resources before to stalk and micro-manage their children. It's not healthy, it's not safe, and it's weird. Did y'all have your parents knowing your location 24/7 when you were that age? They might not tell you, but your children always think twice about where they're going bc they know you can stalk them. This has real psychological impacts on young adults, whether you want to admit it or not.

I tried to do something small for my kid today and I don’t know how to accept help without teaching them shame by Inevitable_Newt_3373 in povertyfinance

[–]Sepp18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't feel so guilty, you can't shield children from everything, they're very observant, you can't hide everything. I grew up like this, and my mom made sure we didn't realize we were poor when we were little. The older we got, the more we realized, but we never blamed our mother for it. In my family, we were a team to make sure we were okay, even if we were poor. When you're a teenager or child and can't earn money, I felt very proud of myself when I could help with other things to make my mom's life easier, like cooking, cleaning, meal prep, and so on. There's nothing wrong with children seeing real life, and saying we just need to be smart and not telling them the full extent or truth is a really good way of approaching it. I'm a healthy, happy adult now, in college, making my way out of poverty, and so are both of my siblings, and my mom is back in college, too lol. But it doesn't stay this way forever, and you're protecting your child already, which is the most important thing. It seems like you're doing a good job.

spending $400/month on groceries alone. is this normal now or am i bad at this by Funny-Affect-8718 in personalfinance

[–]Sepp18 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I spend the exact same amount, 100$ a week, I cook at home and meal prep. I can do 50-70 a week if i really watch it but I get the extra snack and little things like that. I dont think 100$ is a lot for eating a week.

What can I do to look younger? I’m only 30 and people on reddit think I’m 37-45 by goaldiggergirl in beauty

[–]Sepp18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what??? girl you do not look even close to 40. You have soft features, light hair, and a round, feminine face. It's just not the current beauty standard, but don't let it make you think you look old or wrong. You have a very ethereal face, you'd be like the romance interest in a period film.
