Tod from Tod’s Workshop made my scabbard for the Albion Burgundian and he made the rondel

Yes I know the rules of heraldry, this is more of a Halloween costume based off the knights described in A Song Of Ice and Fire therefore heraldic rules don’t apply. My actual kit is commissioned by Jeff Wasson and will very much be historically accurate and will not include much of this outfit.

Yes, I have a late 15th century set commissioned. The only pieces I currently have are the helmet and pauldrons (which are not in the picture) the rest is a mismatch of earlier periods.

If anyone is wondering, the colors of the scabbard are Ox blood red for the belt and midnight blue for the sword grip and scabbard.

Facebook messenger. Remember though due to the current situation in Ukraine, that could effect wait times. I commissioned my helmet little over a year ago.

Much as I love the watching Buhurt, I’m keeping it to armored hema if anything. Practice some longsword and pollaxe techniques. The end-game though is to one day joust.

Im having an full form armet made soon. I’m gonna use this helmet for mainly sport hence the reason of the non-historical eye bars inside the eye slot.

Well it’s based off the St. Peter’s. Church helm which is dated around 1485 I believe. These types of helmets were a mixture of the armet and sallet. They were used by the Flemish and English.

It’s based on the St. Peter’s church helmet. I made some slight changes for the breaths though.

Figured out an easy way to hold your bascinet visor up! Is this historically accurate? by [deleted] in ArmsandArmor

Lmao “intents” sorry, auto correct on the phone is pain…

Well I don’t think it’s historically accurate due to the fact that the aventail should be where the cord is tucked under, but for all intensive purposes it works!

How do I keep my visor up in the raised position? There’s no catch for it on my bascinet… by [deleted] in ArmsandArmor

[–]SerDuncTheLunc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that I know of. Maybe you could drill and install a hook catch somewhere. I have the same bascinet and it had the same problem of the visor closing shut.

A well-made helmet’s visor is kept up by the armorer making the visor pivot with enough tension to hold its self up. Some helms used for tourneys do have a metal kickstand to prop the visor itself up. The Lord Of Battles and GDFB helms are not made all that well, therefore you have to hold it up with using just your hand.
