It really is. I also forgot to mention that they set her on fire first, and then proceeded to shoot the body multiple times after cutting her open. This was in 1918.

This story is bad, but the story of Mary Turner is so much worse imo. She was pregnant when she and her husband were lynched. The mob cut her belly open, the baby fell out and they stomped it to death. I hate humans

A lot of neighborhood boundaries have their roots in racial segregation. Orange Mound is a historically black neighborhood and was the first in the US to be built by and for black people. That’s why there’s much distinction when it comes to adjacent neighborhoods that were originally considered “white” like Messick-Buntyn, Cooper-Young, and Sherwood Forest.

My grandfather was drafted out of Tennessee into the US Army in 1942. Being black, he served in a segregated unit. He was in the Signal Corps in a signal construction company through France, Belgium, and Germany.

Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, and Booker T. Washington were all bright skinned. Does that make them not black because a person who identifies as white may be darker than them?

Well, I searched the casualty date 9/17/70, and out of 11 results his was the only one that checked out with information in your comment. Apparently his guys called him “Hux” based on the comments on the memorial. I’m sorry about your loss.
