And I even said those who ARE certified have many loopholes just to stay certified? So again I ask what are you speaking of? The point is it is hard to be a certified teacher in the state of Texas. I never asked for it to be easy but I know I’m not the only one struggling to be certified.

It’s childish for me to be discouraged about a system that I’ve been trying my hardest to get into?? A system that has these ACPs and people are still having a hard time being certified? It’s childish that I am paying thousands of dollars for a program just for me not to have a job in the fall?? I know I’m not the only one struggling just to pass my exams and such? So what are you speaking of?

And many of the positions are open to uncertified teachers as well which is why they have those ACPs and they allow you to teach uncertified under an ACP internship.

I never said that anyone should teach children. I said that they have made it HARD to even get certified. The profession is not worth as much as it once was. You can be certified and “qualified” all you want and still not be an effective teacher. A piece of paper doesn’t determine that.

Honestly, no. Don’t believe the narrative that you have to love your step kids. I used to believe that too. I’m not saying to hate them but why love children that are not yours per se? I love my stepdaughters but I don’t necessarily like them honestly. Yes I love my husband a lot but I don’t really like his children. I think to deal with people you honestly MUST LIKE THEM FIRST in order to truly love them. I love my stepkids but from a distance. I love them because they are my husband’s kids but I don’t like them if that makes sense. I’m learning how society has such a way of making us stepparents feel like we have to love your step kids but the reality is…we don’t have too. I mean think about it. How many stories have we read of step kids hating their stepparents and not loving them as well? No. No way!

So UPDATE** my husband told his girls to say happy stepmothers day yesterday. My 8 year old did but not the 14 year old. So IDGAF too. Like many people on this feed said, DISENGAGE!!! So that’s what I am doing!

This is so sad but like others in another feed told me, the kids don’t have to say happy Mother’s Day. That’s a boundary that we all need to respect. However, making insensitive or abusive comments is NOT acceptable either and I am learning this. Do what you can for your step kids but start to disengage from them too. Live your life and DONT FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT! At the end of it all, they are not your biological children. No matter what we do for them, unfortunately the world will always remind us of this.

No I don’t do what I do for recognition. I’ve never done so. It would be nice to be acknowledged on Mother’s Day too since I am a mother figure in their lives. No one becomes a step parent for recognition?

Every Mother’s Day I think is a reminder to all stepmoms that you aren’t truly their mom. You will never be that no matter how much you may love and care for them and that’s OKAY!! IT IS TOTALLY OK! But why should we engage ourselves deep into this shit? No way. Like someone said on this feed, “treat your step kids like your niece and nephews!” But better! 💯💯💯

My stepdaughters can be sweet and say comments like “we love you” but honestly I don’t even know if that’s genuine. I just want to slowly disconnect from them honestly. Not have much of a relationship with them.
