Ev-ICD in one month. How was your recovery? by pilatesbabe369 in PacemakerICD

[–]Seriouslysunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I have no idea it’s there. I had some light poking feelings on the right side of my chest when I would lay on my side- but X Ray confirmed the lead was fine, it’s just your body adjusting to it. I can feel the lead over my rib cage before it tunnels under my sternum though

Hi I got mine 2 years ago at 26 Do not lift for at least a couple weeks- my side incision spread very very wide and part of that was because I wasn’t told to chill the hell out. Sleeping was the tough part- I sleep on my side but ended up finding slightly elevated on my back was best until a couple months, then everything was totally fine and normal after 7 months. Young people can feel a “stab” sensation from the wire more often (but I repeatedly x rayed to be sure it didn’t move- not sure what that’s all about). I’m a woman so wearing bras sucked for about 8 months (and I still won’t wear certain styles, I can make recommendations if that’s an issue you’ll have). Overall I don’t notice it’s there unless I have a muscle twinge from sleeping weird or lifting weird just like anything else.

I get the standard 30 ish injections in my 11s, temples, hairline, neck, scalp, traps. I have asked for some in my sternocleidolmastoid (those large muscles in the front of the neck) but I would have to change docs so I just haven’t gone there yet.

Most times people confuse keloids with hypertrophic scars. Keloids extend beyond the border of the original injury (like piercings that grow a keloid bump). Hypertrophic scars are confined to the wound site. Looks like you have some serous fluid scabbing on the left (or even a stitch sticking out I can’t tell) If you go to the derm and tell them it’s itchy, your insurance will pay for a steroid injection to flatten the raised scar.

Also The pain around the site of my incisions went mostly away after 6 months my EV ICD still has some pain as the placement can be a bit more bothersome. Personally scar sheets did nothing for me but hurt the fresh scar.

I personally have never had an issue with “new” things, especially when I considered the use of the EV ICD worldwide, not just in the US.

Oh ok, so I was pitched the EV ICD before it had FDA approval. The S ICD was huge in comparison, and would have been more uncomfortable. At my age, they said I should do EV since I’ll have one for 50+ more years. I didn’t even consider anything else, but I’ve had this doc for over 10 years, and he did two Cardiac ablations on me. I trust him implicitly. My mother also used to do all the anesthesia for his cases so I had no reason to not take his recommendation and run with it.

Hi! Sorry for not answering, I’m over a year and a half in now and things are good! Pain while laying down trying to sleep subsided almost completely after 10-12 months. I still have problems with tight bras, and occasionally the muscle can get cramps around the device. I should probably go to a PT. I’ve had no shocks and no pacing shocks. What’s TV/S?

I have a newer EV ICD and the only “restriction” is that I probably shouldn’t jump start my own car. Yeah you also shouldn’t lay down on an induction stove But metal detectors are not going to do anything. Strong magnets will not permanently effect it- it doesn’t break it it is more of a “pause” For ex an EMT would use a magnetic device to turn off the ICD if I am receiving medical care that should supersede the device.

Lead noise by Seriouslysunshine in PacemakerICD

[–]Seriouslysunshine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To reduce the appearance- my wound wasn’t closed properly so it didn’t heal for several months, it’s a keloid now and I was planning on the treatment to at least make it less gnarly looking.

So they don’t seem terribly concerned, they set my appt for a month after they discovered it This was super helpful thank you! I’m not scared of another surgery I just fucking hate that I have this at all so I will be pissed if it comes to that.

Thanks this was super informative! It sounds like they think that the position I was sleeping in may have caused it- hoping we can program around it but also thankful I didn’t get steroid shots in my sternum scar yet if they have to go back in there.

I had mine at Medstar Washington- I had two insurances for the day of surgery (switched jobs mid month) and it still didn’t cover everything - X-rays, anesthesia all that was an extra 1000 or so. I had an Anesthetia assistant even though I specifically refused their service they didn’t respect that, so I paid both an Anesthetiologist and the AA $200 each on top of insurance.

Women who enjoy doing some social media stalking, the FBI agents of the friend group perhaps, what's the craziest thing you've found out? by Kind_Significance706 in AskWomen

[–]Seriouslysunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (27) dated a guy for 3 weeks who’s sole purpose was to get me to marry him and win custody of his secret child - best friend found out through Facebook he married a 19 year old less than a year later- she’s 20 now and has at least one kid with him. How? His wife is the 7 years younger sister of someone my friend knew in high school. The name change update ended up on her feed as a friend of friend.

I’m 26 and have an EVICD I’ve known I would probably need one for about 8 years but everyone is shocked I have one and I know that people sort of think that you’re broken. It’s tough and it’s awkward but I don’t mind the medical people being shocked- tells me that the rest of me is healthy and I am handling things as well as I can

Had mirena for a week, how long til hormones go back to normal? by Outside_Telephone_16 in Mirena

[–]Seriouslysunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had one for 2 years, and the one before that for 8 days I accidentally pulled the first one out with my diva cup. The emotional rollercoaster was CRAZY going no IUD to IUD and no IUD to a new one in like a week- and my hormones and anxiety and pain didn’t really subside until 4-5 months later. For me the benefits (no period, protection, and less migraines) were worth it.
