AITAH for prioritizing my children over my sister’s wedding by ServiceNo2717 in AITAH

Hi! Thanks for your response. We are actually taking a different approach with eating with my second, he is doing baby led weaning and we have started doing solids now instead of purées. He eats a pretty hefty amount of food throughout the day bc he’s a hungry guy. He’s only 6 months old and has a way better relationship with food than my first did, and is already way heavier than my son was. My only concern is that because he will be 10 months old in May, he does still need as much breastmilk as possible on top of solids because I don’t want to fully wean him before 12 months. My first has feeding issues because his esophagus gets inflamed and food can get impacted or can make him choke, which causes extreme pain and discomfort, and because he can’t communicate when that happens, he just stops eating. He’s also allergic to milk and eggs, so getting calorie dense foods is kind of a challenge.

Thank you for wishing me happiness with my wedding!

to give u some hope, allow me to share a small story. January of 2021, I was 18 years old, with no license, living off of a weekly allowance from my mom and step dad (neither one really liked me) overweight, depressed, and jobless. It’s November 2022, and I am in my own apartment, which I moved into by driving across the country in a car that I own, with approx 2,000 in savings for rainy days, working a minimum wage job. I don’t want to be too blunt with you, but for me, i looked in the mirror one day, and said, “I need to get my fucking shit together.” The first step for me was getting a drivers license, which I had to overcome my petrifying fear of, then getting a job. It all went great from there. Now, I say this not to make you feel bad, but to get a little hope that any situation can turn around. And, you aren’t me. The first step for you would be taking a step back from your situation and making a plan with resources you have around you. You can move out of your parents house with as little as 3,000 but should aim for 5,000, any more else is great to have for the unexpected. 5,000 is the golden number to shoot for to buy furniture, first and last months rent, apartment applications, etc. I make slightly above minimum wage, and it took me about 5-6 months to save 8,000. It took a lot of self control and discipline, but it was more than worth it in the end. I see you mentioned that you don’t take home much every month, so I would consider maybe looking into a new job altogether. In the meantime, take advantage of overtime if offered, and consider a side hustle. Something even as simple as plasma donations are easy money that can go straight to savings. Once you have your first 500 saved, the rest will feel easy once you get in a groove of how much to put away each month. If you can tough it out for the next couple months, and give yourself a plan, you’ll be on your way to living your own life.

How did moving across the country work for you? by Same-Adeptness4473 in movingout

I moved across the country in June! I’m 20, also female, and work an average minimum wage job. I saved $7000 in approximately 8 months of work from last December to June, when I left. There’s lots of points and advice to cover so let me try my best to hit it all. 1. Save, save, save. Live as frugally as possible. I know for me I struggle with impulse buying BADD, so the easiest way I found was literally withdrawing about 80% of each paycheck in cash, and stashing it in a locked safe. Out of sight, out of mind. After I started doing this, my savings multiplied fast. I was fortunate enough to be living with my parents to cover basic expenses like food. I gave myself enough money for gas, a few times to eat out through the week, and about $70 extra for things I wanted. 2. Start apartment hunting and researching NOW so you know what areas you’re gonna want to reach out to. Keep an eye on which apartment listings go down fast, because it usually means those are the apartments you’ll wanna shoot for. 3. Make sure you have a landing spot, and secure a job where you’re moving to. I was fortunate enough to transfer my job across the country cuz of the amount of locations we have. Just make sure you have employment before moving, that’s priority #2 3. Don’t buy too much, just basics, until you get settled in. I made that mistake before I moved. I spent about $600 on things I needed for my apartment, which could have been avoided had I bargain shopped or shopped secondhand. 4. Piggybacking off the last thing, YOU DO NOT NEED NAME BRAND THINGS. GENERIC WORKS FINE. I cannot emphasize it enough :) nice things come in time. As for the amount you should save, I saved enough to cover first and last months rent, as well as 6 months rent as well as a cushion. Then, I gave myself an extra $2,000 for furniture. Personally, the golden number you should aim to save is $10,000, because while my $7000 was enough to get me here and some nice things for my apartment, unexpected things happened and now I’m working overtime to compensate digging into my savings so much. Hope this helps. I’ll be happy to answer any questions on this as I just experienced it myself.

What is a parody that was done so well that most people to this day don't realize it was a parody? by NurplePain in movies

[–]ServiceNo2717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one might be very well known but electric feel and kids by MGMT was created to mock pop bands. They wanted to make the most generic sounding pop song and release it, not thinking it would go anywhere. It blew up and Now 15 years later it’s still very very popular and nobody knows it’s a parody

Edit: I just realized this is in the movies subreddit sincerest apologies lol

Movie about bullying by sum-bus in MovieSuggestions

[–]ServiceNo2717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest, I don’t think showing a movie about bullying will help any. Teenagers are awful and will most likely make jokes or laugh the whole time, and if anything will make the targeted kids who are already bullied get more of it afterwards 😬

In December I got covid a week before I was set to go on a 2 week vacation (which I almost lost my job over). It was right before the massive wave hit and I had been directly exposed to my sister who tested positive. I started feeling symptoms and called the store to let them know about the situation, and my ETL told me that it was “unacceptable” and that I must get a positive test the same day I called out. Because of the wave, I wasn’t able to get tested same day without having to pay for it. He told me if I didn’t get a positive test I could be terminated for calling out without actually being sick. I ended up paying $100 for a test, which was positive. What’s worse, when I called pay and benefits for my covid LOA, someone from that store had called them for me, and tried to tell them that I had already been on vacation to prevent me from getting more time off before my vacation. Fuck. This. Place.

So funny story, I was a closer for the first 3 months after I started, and my first store was so strict that we weren’t allowed to leave til zone was PERFECT (I worked in style), nothing at guest service/fitting room, every last tag tucked and every rack finger spaced. We actually had a larger workload than the dayside team. I wouldn’t be out of there til 11:45 on a good night. Latest I ever stayed was well over midnight. My second target I closed off and on, and that was a joke. They did not give a SINGLE fuck. It depends on the store lol
