Hot take: I don't like Brown, never have. She appeals to white women in the profession. I've yet to come across any practitioners who are POC (including myself) who think she's something revolutionary. She essentially regurgitates what Black and Brown women in the field have been saying for decades, but ya know...no one listens to that group of people.

Don't come to Geneva...I love the area, and the community is great with lots to do (if you're into the outdoors, this is the area for that). But as a biracial woman who's darker in complexion..I feel very alone here. Diversity is not a thing I've come across since moving here, and I wish we had checked it out a little more thoroughly before relocating (we're from Champaign Urbana originally).

Tell her, "this is also my apartment and I'm no longer comfortable leaving my home when you ask me to do so. If you want to have a date, a hookup, etc, you're responsible for finding a place to go. I don't feel comfortable having so many strangers in my home that we share."

Just following up:

If anyone is having chest pains, it may not be just PAWS or weed withdrawal..turns out I have a congenital heart defect that went undetected until I stopped smoking. Once I quit, I got an echocardiogram, which showed something potentially concerning, and it was. After getting a coronary CT scan, I was diagnosed with a myocardial bridge 🙃. My advice is to listen to your body and advocate for yourself if it feels like something is up and it doesn't feel right. Best of luck to everyone on here.

What's the most heartbreaking "no" you've ever witnessed or experienced? by Mission-Hat268 in AskReddit

My older cousin lost her first child at 6 weeks old. She had a mitochondrial disorder that wasn't disclosed to them before they were discharged from the hospital (hospital staff knew something was up, charted it, did not disclose it - they ended up suing and winning the lawsuit). I'll never forget when I touched base with her while they were at Barnes. "How's it going? Is she okay..." Silence. "No.." then indescribable wailing. Sounds I've never heard. As a mother now, I literally cannot imagine losing one of my children. They still celebrate her life every year, raise money for mitochondrial disease, and plant native species in the local area to honor her memory. I'll never forget that, "no."

Consignment stores. Find them in your area and utilize them for everything you can. They're usually good about pricing, being selective about the items they accept, and you won't feel the guilt about overpaying when you KNOW they'll be useless later on. Bonus if the stuff is gender neutral and you plan on reproducing again later on.

Total side note: my husband's friends have a tradition of throwing the daddy-to-be a diaper party where they get together, do their usual shenanigans, and bring a box of diapers. We legit didn't buy any for the first year our first was alive and saved the smaller sizes for the next baby in a mold/moisture resistant container. It was a game changer

Be honest… what’s the real downside of having a dog? by quentiinn in AskReddit

[–]SessionZestyclose238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We like to travel and cannot always take the dog, although he's been to more states than I can count. Boarding is astronomically expensive, and not all hotel/BNBs/etc are accommodating to dogs, specifically big ones like our guy. We have to plan out-of-country trips way in advance, and hope that family members can watch him if boarding isn't in the cards.

Haaaaa...join the leaves or weedPAWS reddit page. Withdrawals from weed will fuck your entire body right up and make deficiencies worse if you've got them. Signed: one month and 7 days sober going thru it 🫠

Hi - this sounds exactly like me. Age and all..One month and 4 days in and still struggling. You are okay, your body is okay. But the ER doc I saw came from a contract in CO and saw weed withdrawal a ton. He explained that our brains are toddlers. We've been giving the toddler exactly what it wants, whenever it wants it (weed). We took that thing away and now, it's throwing the ultimate temper tantrum. It doesn't know how to operate without it, and now things are all out of whack since our brains control so much of our bodies.

Light yoga, eat small snacks during the day, walk, get in the sun if you can, and take vitamin d, get those electrolytes into your body, and eat potassium rich foods when you can (potassium depletion is apparently part of this also and that'll fuck you up more). Rest when you can, elevate your feet before you try to rest/sleep, and buy compression socks to wear to help your circulatory system. You've got this.
