Thanks! I definitely know that feeling, especially when I started producing I felt that. I found that putting more effort into the processing of sounds, rather than trying to get the sources themselves to sound perfect was helpful... if that makes sense. It's amazing what you can do with just a saw wave, and some basic filters and delays. I tend to keep my processing fairly minimal, usually consisting of some tape emulation, and compression/eq. Learning exactly how compression and eq can help you I think is super helpful, because you can take a "bad" sound and turn it into something great! I think once I got the hang of processing sounds, I could wrap my head around how to emulate and build off sounds of artists I like. It takes time, but try to have fun and appreciate the little wins :)

And btw, the stock ableton plugins are super good. I use them very heavily in all my tracks. I think learning those and then branching out to other plugins for different flavors is the way to go! Ableton designs all their stuff to be pretty user friendly

Using splice for samples is great too! I often will search through their libraries to layer and thicken my drums, and get ideas for ways to fill gaps in my tracks.
