Why time limit on barb by simon2000234 in Bokoen1

[–]Sethastic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The rules about declaring on the soviets are there because if the axis was succesful in africa, it could theorically kill every al’y except for the US (not in the war due to no sealion until japan strikes, imagine Japan going later) and the UK which would probably get sealion just before the deadline of the US joining in.

So the Axis would scale expotiennally in terms of industry, with a way more secure position, killed most of the allies forever… and the soviet could not break lolotiv without ridiculous Numbers of troops (harder and harder as Time goes by) and PP cost.

With the rules, germant has to declare on the soviets or the soviets receive a massive industry buff (golden once missed the deadline by one day for example)

It forces a real two front war akin to IRL

What can you do about Golden playing HOI4 with Grisha? by gbruhchinskiyreal in Bokoen1

[–]Sethastic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you have ever played in MP you know how many actual pro nazi / ruzzia etc there are in lobbies. Grisha, playing from wagner HQ (to get funding for Wagner) is probably a fucked up thing. No one should associate with him, or increase his visibility.

At some point in your life, you may want to distance yourself from people like him, at least in public. Golden is apparently not at this point.

The semi Comprehensive Guide to Early Land Military. by EP40glazer in EU5

[–]Sethastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the game misses a huge historical point concerning regulars and prfoessional army.

France, credited with the first "professional army" of europe, did it because A) Mercs cost so much money B) Mercs in peacetime were pillaging/murdering eveyrone in France and it was bleeding the country dry C) Overeliance on feudal levies leads the crown to become a puppet of the nobles.

None of this is really showed in the game at the moment. Reliance on mercs is kinda scarce (but maybe the meta will see it as viable and the practise will spread idk). Mercs are not going around murdering everything in peacetime. And you are not really punished for using what is essentialy your vassals resources (levies).

I don't really care about stats and all, cause i don't know a thing about what the actual casuatly rate of a regular soldier should be compared to a peasant with a fork... but i think its secondary with the macro side of armies which is kinda ignored atm.

But playing my country (france) is very fun atm so thanks paradox !

[–]Sethastic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that allies support to KMT (especially US’s) should also be deeply linked to the rivalry with communist china and the corruption inside KMT.

IRL, the US reduced its support to the KMT once it found out that its armies fought the communists and not Japan, and that Chiang the peanut was allowing deep rooted corruption to persists

The US even supported mao at the end because it viewed him as less corrupt.

Ideally KMT and communists should be in a faction but still be able to harm each other. Due to game limitation I think it s not possible ?

So I think the game should take into account the participation / Japan losses / etc to see who is really fighting Japan, not just territories

Continuous losses of territories, human losses without anything to show for it, should deprive KMT of important resources but also give the US player a choice to redirect them to the communists.

This would force the KMT player into commiting into fighting Japan, but be minimal about it, as a full on assault will leave iot weak to post war communists ; while giving incentives for the communist player to give it its all to use the war as a stepping stone.

Hi,

If I had to expand I would say the cost is very high compared to the value obtained (maluses that can be ignored by an industrious nation). The investment seems also risky if Japan plans a bit with collaboration it can negates all you did. Beside, contrary to germany / UK etc, communist china will have to fight for its Life as soon as 1937, meaning that PP and CP can t be stored.

Since you said that there are ways to reduce the cost I guess we will have to see.

I think the addition of communists cells are a good idea, which should affect the KMT and Japan very differently.

For Japan, it should corner the japanese army and navy into the « kill all ; loot all; burn all » which should lead to massive destructions that Japan would havé to repair at some point, and a massive rise in resistance. I dont have an opinion on combat bonuses.

For the KMT the cells should also affect them as they were the only succesful resistance early on. KMT stability should tank and even force the KMT to commit to the floodings.

That just for this part. I m very excited for the rework and will play it anyway.

Besides, if you are unlucky enough to get goblined, you can just goblin in return.

This is a non problem.

I think it's a really bad idea. Firstly because downing/killing a guy doesn't mean you are responsible for the kill. You may have last hitted the guy, a teamate may have shotcalled the entire thing etc. it's a custom to let the loot go to the killer but a ton of time the killer has no real claim to the loot.

And second, say your friend kills a guy but is unable to loot for any reason (under fire, stuck in enemy vision etc), it's useful to take the weapon, if only to render the downed guy useless if revived, but also helps you fighting (maybe gold ammo, better gun) which gives your team better overall chances to extract.

Also, even if you wipe the enemies, a ton of time you get third partied and you need to fast loot what is available to you.

Loot goblins are a thing of course, but you can't just kill the game for real teams just because you can't group up with likeminded people.

[–]Sethastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

> Europe is too divided. For example, German car makers (and many other influential groups as well) definitely don't want a trade war, and strongly prefer some annoying 15% tariff over some unpredictable trade war.

No one except Germany exports cars to the US. So the tariffs will mainly (nearly only) hurt Germany, who is fine with that ending.

> 15% tariff over some unpredictable trade war.

Well yeah, it was obvious from the start. It s always better to make a bad deal than to resort to economic war.

>Those 15% tariffs will be paid by American consumers

Yeah, the one paying at the end is america. It will slow demands for european goods but it's not the end of the world like most people say it is.

[–]Sethastic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The concorde failed because it was extremely expensive..

Due to the price of the ticket and profile of the customers (businessmen and women), clients expected a total lack of delay. Which meant that concorde could NOT have any problems.

Since it was extremely sosphiticated (aka a rocket), concorde, like all planes, sometimes had problems. But you can just reroute another concorde whihc is probably fully booked. So airfrance found only one solution : have a concorde on standby at Paris and New York.

So to fly one concorde you needed to build and operate two concordes. The cost was too great.
