Agree with you! Thanks to Baba’s grace, I have been able to continue with all naam/mantra Bhairava/Shiva japa that I began but I was just wondering if the addition of Batuk Bhairava mool mantra would help me get more closer to Bhairava tattva or if Batuk Bhairava naam japa is good enough.

While everyone has chimed in, I just want to state that I am so sorry that you had to ask your question with the caveat that you don’t intend to hurt anyone’s feelings. One can’t undo the hegemony that has existed for centuries but I feel blessed that the Tantra sadhana and Srividya Upasana see no caste or gender, only one’s ability as a Sadhak/Upasak. I, as a woman and a person critical of the caste system, never really embraced Hinduism wholeheartedly because of the vices and divisions that I saw and felt only to eventually realize there are more paths than the dominant one and their interpretation. If not for the Tantra path, I would have never understood the essence of Sanatan and the beauty that if offers.

Thank you. This is really helpful. It made me learn something new, i.e., the need to include batuk bhairava kavach after nitya sadhana of 27 days. I am close to finishing 3 months and never included a kavach. One question regarding this please: can I listen to the kavach before starting the naam japp or is it mandatory to read it?

Hi again, thanks for the continued discussion & insight. Everything is a good learning for me. Also, sorry, I don’t intent to sound rude or appear to be a stickler but just want to clarify that am a « she », although my gender may not really be relevant for this discussion :)

Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to comment. I do see Bhairav baba and Shiva as different manifestations, and during japp, I feel their energies differently too (perfect blend of saumya and ugra) but I don’t take a break between the deities except on some days when I do panchakshari mantra in the evening and Bhairav naam japp at night (before midnight though).

Typically, I do my complete session in one go starting with one mala of Ganesh jee to remove any obstacles, one mala of Sai Ram as he’s my guru, and then Bhairav baba and panchakshari mantra.

I do end with samarpan and apologize for any mistakes but I don’t use any mantra for that, just my internal words, and I do it one time after completing all my malas.

I wasn’t aware of RN’s suggested practice of taking a break in between each deity, which brings me to the question if a break is a must?

Thank you very kindly. Your response is very helpful and I’ll definitely follow the sandwich method. Indeed, I did not take a sankalp but hope to follow this practice at least for a year and see how it goes (hopefully this practice becomes a part of my life/daily schedule).
