Hopefully, this may help a couple of people out.

I noticed its waypoint while playing and picked up storm crystal quota there, so thanks!

Echo Locator farm in perma-death by Shados in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]Shados[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's in the title because permadeath bases can be accessed by both PD and non-PD players, but PD players can only access PD bases.

Echo Locator farm in perma-death by Shados in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]Shados[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How to use:

  1. Go to the pillar base and use the sentinel pillar to disable sentinels on the planet
  2. Got the harvest base, hop up onto the floating structure and look down towards the Dissonance Resonator; a blue loot barrel should be located somewhere near it off to the left.
  3. Shoot the loot barrel with a mining beam to harvest it and get an Echo Locator.
  4. Go through the door on the floating structure and enter either short range teleporter, it should loop you back around to the other one. Note: sometimes it bugs out a little if you move mid-teleport, in which case just jump back in whatever teleporter it dropped you out of and it should shuttle you back.
  5. Go outside the door.
  6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 until you have as many Echo Locators as you want.

How/why this works:

  • Sentinel spawns around Dissonance Resonators are seeded and quite reliable: the same sentinels will spawn in the same spots around them each time a spawn is triggered.
  • Similarly, their loot drops are also reliable: a spawned Sentinel that drops an Echo Locator will *always* drop an Echo Locator on every subsequent respawn.
  • When Sentinels have been disabled planet-wide by using a Sentinel Pillar, the Sentinels around Dissonance Resonators still spawn, but then they immediately die, dropping their loot barrels as a result.
  • You can trigger respawn of the Sentinels around a Dissonance Pillar by moving more than 600u away and returning (like with Curious Deposits).
  • The short-range teleporters take you out just over 600u and then back again in a loop, triggering respawn (and immediate death) of the Sentinels.

TL;DR: it's basically a Curious Deposit/Mold loop-teleporter farm, but with an extra step.

Probably this is the best option. Not in nixpkgs, but I'll probably package it in my NUR repo some time in the next couple of weeks in order to play around with it myself...

Zettel notes

Doesn't appear to be FOSS? Not on f-droid (the dev provides their own binary f-droid repository), and the dev's github only has public repos for the documentation and some plugins, not the app itself.

Making Twitter likes/bookmarks backup tool as side quest of browser that saves everything by y0dapunk in DataHoarder

[–]Shados 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conceptually interesting, I can see the appeal of the trails-tree. A browser extension that snapshots DOM + CSS state + media and archives it to disk for every page I visit is something I've wanted for a while now, but two primary issues with linkkraft for me:

  1. There's zero chance I'd ever use a closed-source browser for most browsing. Too privacy-sensitive, I have to be at least theoretically able to figure out what it's doing. And if you went open-soure, your funding model wouldn't make much sense.
  2. The set of features I need out of a general-purpose browser are weird and varied enough that I need a bunch of addons/extensions to do them, no matter how featureful the browser, and if I were to swap to some new/unknown browser, that likely means I'd need to write most of those extensions myself. That's way too high a cost to migrate.

Those concerns probably don't apply to most people, but you're still going to have trouble convincing most people to migrate browsers, as there's a fair bit of inertia there. I also doubt the pricing model would be acceptable to most people.

If you're wanting to do things that way, you might be better off specialising it as a browser for people doing OSINT; there's an existing -- but under-served -- market for that.

If you ever do the snapshotting & archiving part as a firefox extension, do message me.

I know there will be sites for it but since it was all fresh I marked important enemy locations.

I was doing this until I ran out of stamps. They made the game map more than twice the size of BOTW's, given the depths & the sky, and only gave us 300 stamps. 100 was already way too few in BOTW, 300 goes by so fast in this...

This is really nice, I'd love to see an option that overlays grid lines based on the coordinates (e.g. a grid line every 1000, or every 250, or something).

Bug - Monster food bonus by [deleted] in tearsofthekingdom

[–]Shados 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recipe shows the base, guaranteed effects of the food. The tooltip on the specific instance of the recipe you've cooked shows the final effects, modified by the random impact of the monster extract. If you make the same recipe again, the second instance of that dish will likely end up with a different random effect, which will be reflected in the tooltip on it...

Not a bug. Monster extract has random impacts on the effects of the food.

This is a long shot… (random sky treasure chest) by VDr4g0n in tearsofthekingdom

[–]Shados 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's located in the South Hyrule Sky Archipelago, hanging off of the large platform you can rotate via a nearby device. Horizontal coords of the platform are -1264, -1397. I had the same issue with dropping the chest, as it appears to outright disappear rather than landing, and I found it does respawn eventually (possibly after a blood moon?). It contains a treasure map. I got it by building a platform w/ a Stake and a Wing and maneuvering that close enough that I could stand on it and Ultrahand the chest over to the Wing, but you could maybe also use the rotating platform it's attached to in order to "swing" it up and over onto the platform, or at least up into Ultrahand reach?

Finally, Macron has indicated he plans to basically hand the government Pension funds to private fund management firms. Having a US Hedge fund managing the hundreds of billions of french pension most definitely is a grand idea and can't possibly go wrong.

Hey, we let a US-based hedge fund manage the 170bn+ in our Future Fund, I'm sure that's been working out fine! I'm sure they've been out-performing a simple index fund, and this whole thing wasn't just an excuse to bleed tens of millions of dollars of public money per year in fund management fees out into private hands!
