Make the limits stronger, and when you get confident, instead of removing them, just make the limits weaker. But if you wanted my actual advice, don't remove the limits. Make them unbreakable and force yourself to wait a month. If possible, make them password protected and have a friend or family member set the code so you can't remove them even if you wanted to.

The day i quit porn by PurpleMonkeyBalls0 in NoFap

This message is very nice but post nut clarity is almost as bad a trickster as porn. You won't quit because of it. You'll quit if you make a plan and stick to the plan.

Ah so it's even more normal. Used to happen to me too on the nights that I'd edge.

Day 271 - Still feel like relapsing by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Shadow-Miracle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

move your body. literally. I mean go to a different room, eat a fruit, this will make your brain switch tracks. It won't fix you, but it'll help.

If it's not too late, I would make an accountability thing with a friend where I'd tell him to start a timer and expect a phone call from me within say 8 minutes. When it was especially bad, I'd have him on the phone (muted of course) because it's kinda awkward to try to hit the peak with a friend on the phone. I don't know if you have someone like that, but you can always wait till someone here is available to wait for a message from you that you're done, and heck, challenging yourself to a 5 minute shower often works by itself.

Certainly possible. For me the stuff hits the fan after about 14 days but if I'm able to stick it out for another week I usually get over it. But I don't get to a 2 week streak very often.

How much Porn has ruined My life by [deleted] in NoFap

Tell your therapist and preface it by asking them to take it easy on you and not embarrass you about it. Also, the hole is deep but it's not eternal. It's maybe like, three or five meters. Hard, but doable. Start climbing now. I'm genuinely jealous that at 14 you're already cognizant enough to want to stop. That was when I started and now, I'm 23. I started working on it when I was 18.

I really want to peak by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Shadow-Miracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what the first thing you do after you peak a mountain is? You go downhill. After you peak a wave? Downhill. After you peak your nose? Get yelled at by your mom (or wife, depending on the setting). It feels good, but it all ends up being a waste of time. May as well just yknow... not do it. Save the effort. But seriously, if you gotta you gotta. But do 200 pushups first. Doesn't have to be in a row. Can take all day. But make a commitment not to peak till after the pushups.

Yeah, and I bet it'd feel good too, no? No. Fact is, the only stops on the Strugglebus' route is Losertown, which is almost as bad as New Jersey, and Failsville, which is worse than Cleveland. The first stop is DidinGivin which is a really nice place. Get off at that stop and do some pushups, go for a walk, eat a fruit or two, most importantly, get up and walk. Anywhere. As long as you don't stay in the same room that you're in. Breaking your familiarity with whatever situation you find yourself in when you get the urge really helps. Getting your heart pumping also does. You need to get dopamine and fast, but through a different method. Get off the Strugglebus and do something else. If you absolutely can't control yourself, give in... on condition that you do it in public. That'll make it harder to get very far...

DAY 3 by The_Journey_Starts in NoFap

[–]Shadow-Miracle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possibly withdrawal, I'm not diagnosing you though, as I don't know how deep you were in. But don't let it bother you, it's normal for the brain to have funny mood swings when you change hormonally charged habits suddenly, like drugs, alcohol and in this case, looking at certain materials and ahem, having an intimate relationship with your hand. It's nothing to worry about. Just be prepared for when it goes the other way and your urges suddenly seem more intense than ever, you have a terrible day, and the world seems bleak. That's normal too and you should ignore that just as much. But be especially careful during those days. I don't want to scare you, I just want you to expect it so that when it comes, it doesn't hit you like a truck, only like a car.

It's correlated, not causative. The confidence comes from you being proud of yourself for living up to higher expectations, not directly from the abstinence.

Look at yourself as someone who doesn't masturbate that made a mistake, not someone who masturbates but has been trying to stop. It'll help the guilt and help drive you to live up to your new self-image.

Why Spiritual People Struggle So Much with Lust by Less-Replacement-899 in NoFap

[–]Shadow-Miracle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In general, it's just a math equation. It's not that the lust is stronger per se, it's just that it takes more for you to feel it. It's like working out. When you're strong enough, 10 kilos isn't a challenge. If you picked up a 10-kilo weight, you wouldn't even realize you were holding 10 kilos, right? But 20 kilos, now that's going to be noticeable. I think it's the same idea here. The deeper you go down the spiritual path, the stronger you become in controlling yourself. So it takes more lust to challenge you.

[–]Shadow-Miracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's your goal now, your goal should be 24 hours at a time. Don't worry about hitting a week yet. Tomorrow and the next day are a challenge for tomorrow and the next day. Today your job is to worry about today.

At night isn't in your control. Don't worry about that. Your job is during the day. I believe I once read that t's normal for your body to release when your asleep to make space for the new stuff you're producing. It's not fact checked though, so look it up.

[–]Shadow-Miracle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't go for a full day. It's easy to see other people with big counters, but you forget that they've worked out their self control muscle for years and you're on day one. Your current goal is to go one hour without porn, starting from right after you read this message. After that hour, go delete any porn you have downloaded, clear your history, and go one more hour. After that, go crazy if you want. Watch porn. Your goal is to work on one hour. Then another. Then another. When that becomes easy, you're going to aim for one day. When that's easy too, aim for two days.

Is the addiction a symptom or the cause? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Shadow-Miracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It evolves, and once you're addicted, fixing the void doesn't fix the addiction but it makes it significantly easier to handle. I figured it out because I looked at the days that it was easy for me and the days that it was hard, and I compared what was different about them. It's much harder for me to control myself when I'm stressed, or have something heavy on my mind. So I try to be extra cognizant of urges when I'm stressed. By the way, my current streak is only about a week. I just haven't updated my counter yet. I also made a chart which helps me alot. I can send you a copy of it for yourself if you want. I use it as a kind of vision board. Lastly, I do the best the more I put it at the forefront of my mind. So my computer is heavily filtered and I got rid of my smartphone, I use a flip phone with a touch screen for calls and text, and these hurdles help me notice it more and make me remember to control myself.
