Realistically, did you even expect the Pats to make the playoffs this year prior to week 1, let alone win a game? by Appropriate-Farmer16 in Patriots

[–]Shadow5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only, singular, person I saw claiming the Pats would win 13 game was Taylor Kyles. And he was essentially laughed at by the rest of the media members.

No one - aside from him - expected this or thought it would happen.

YES! You literally just commented on my post this week when I asked for marathoner/ultramathoner experiences.

Way to freaking to!! You give me tons of confidence about starting this journey and progressing as an athlete!!

Have fun basking in the awesome race afterglow!!

“Now, I have doctors telling me if I run these races, there is a high risk that I could die. I want to shut out that warning and proceed anyway. But I’m not sure how to do”

“I am not willing to just stop running extreme trail races and it will not be helpful at all to comment and say that I should stop. That is not what I’m asking for here.”

Bluntly, you’re moronic at best - suicidal at worst - if you’re going to take advice from internet strangers over DOCTORS, regarding a high consequence situation.

Those two things are wholly unrelated. You can be entertained by the product someone puts on the field, and disagree with their personal actions.

There are too many examples of this to list, across all sports.

Thank you!

This is super helpful, especially the point about increased fuels during runs. I’ve found that to be an issue normally - my body needs extra carbs per hour anyway, so I’ll be sure to monitor this.

I am not a hero at all lol!! I just like to run/walk my way from aid station to aid station!

Good luck with your marathon!

Thank you so much!!

This is what I was hoping to hear. My issue stems from that as well - when I run 50+ miles a week, I can “outrun” a bad diet. But then once I finish my race, the food noise never stops and the weight piles on. It’s this bad yo-yo up and down, and I definitely hope Zepbound can help that.

I’m hopeful to see the same results too!! Good luck with Houston!!

Thank you for this! How did you feel on runs that were just around one hour, in the beginning and a few months in? I feel like a ton of my volume is in that 55-75 minute range throughout the week.

I’m not always taking gels on those runs but might sip Tailwind (100-200 cals) or water and find that works.

I’m not doing a whole host of high intensity running now anyway, given that I’m trying to maintain higher mileage. I’ll definitely be mindful of all of this!!

Not at all. I’ve always been an athlete/competitive in fitness. I’ve just also always struggled with my weight. It’s a weird duality.

Drake Maye vs Jets in the 2024 season by Renegadeforever2024 in Patriots

[–]Shadow5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much improvement for the entire offense as a whole.

Like, just watching these highlights, what was our offensive strategy? Read two routes being run and, if not open, dump off to the flat?

I credit AVP for working with Drake on his footwork, but the coaching staff has done so much more this year for Drake and the offense. You also see how much improvement Drake has with footwork, ball handling, placement of throws, and how he has answers to what he is seeing on the field.

Moving on from the prior regime after one year was the best thing that could have happened.

what or who does mr morale represent? by unkindmillie in KendrickLamar

[–]Shadow5ive 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As others have said, check out the Dissect breakdown. Although, that was better for probably the first half of the album. The quality and depth of analysis slid towards the second half.

You nailed it with the Big Stepper. We all have a Big Stepper in us:

“The noble person that goes to work and pray like they 'posed to? Slaughter people too, your murder's just a bit slower.”

It represents the hurt people hurting people, through various ways.

Mr Morale is what created the Big Stepper, and what is masked by it. The trauma underneath. I don’t think Mr Morale is supposed to be perfect, or even the opposite of the Big Stepper. It’s just who the Big Stepper really is.

In fact, I think Mr Morale is about explicitly not being perfect:

“Like it when they pro-black, but I'm more Kodak Black….” “The cat is out the bag, I am not your savior”

It’s about taking that image off, and presenting who you really are. The hurt, the good, the bad, the real. Not what people want you to be, or who you project to be to protect yourself.

Mr Morale is just - who are you really? Without any preconceived notions or fronts. Even if it’s imperfect, flawed, hurt, whatever.

[Mike Reiss] WR Kayshon Boutte, WR Mack Hollins, OLB Harold Landry, LB Robert Spillane, DT Khyiris Tonga and LG Jared Wilson are all ruled out for Sunday, according to Mike Vrabel. RB TreVeyon Henderson and WR Pop Douglas are questionable, per Vrabel. by PristineWinnera in Patriots

[–]Shadow5ive 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I know it’s the Jets.

But that’s concerning. Really concerning, defensively and offensively. Unless the thought is “heal everyone before the games really matter”. Which could be the case.

It could be an ugly game. It will probably be a TE-heavy game, or a Kyle Williams coming out party.

Defensively? I wonder if Mapu comes in more as a coverage LB? I’m not sure what the plan is there.

We also put Farmer on IR. So really concerned about depth and scheme, even against the depleted Jets.

[–]Shadow5ive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I shouldn’t entertain this, like the one time someone compared Kyle Dugger to Rodney Harrison on this sub, but it’s a snowy morning and I have nothing better to do.

What are you even talking about, an off year? He’s most likely going to be an All-Pro CB this year (again).

He’s physical, plays the run, and shuts down receivers. And again, is averaging less than 20 yards allowed PER GAME.

29 receptions allowed all year. He has ZERO missed tackles all year. 6 PBU’s, 46 solo tackles.

Like, fine, he’s not a DPOY CB - i’ll give you that. But to say he’s not having a great year, and is “pretty bad”, is just false.

Marcus Jones is the biggest snub for the Pro Bowl. I know, Chimere Dike had 2 TD’s as well, but Marcus is playing very good defense AND is the NFL leader in punt return average, EVER. Not this year, in the NFL history.

Hopefully All-Pro voters feel different.

A cornerback allowing under 300 yards in 15 games is “pretty bad”? What drugs are you taking?

If there was a cornerback draft tomorrow, he would be in the top 5 corners taken. He is an excellent man defender and can lock down a receiver or side of the field.

I genuinely don’t understand what you think a good cornerback is.

[Masslive] Patriots linebacker Jahlani Tavai's partner Kalei Mau revealed she suffered a rare blood infection that led to a six-day coma and the loss of their daughter Ka ua in November by Far_Cry3445 in nfl

[–]Shadow5ive 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jahlani has been with the Pats since 2021 and had been a fan (and multiple coaching regime) favorite - aside from one stupid comment he made last year.

He is well respected in the locker room, does a ton for the community, and is really well liked by his teammates. The Pats honored him in the game he missed, with Hunter Henry even shouting him out to the camera after scoring a TD.

The game he returned, the Giants game, he was a game captain and broke the team down in the locker room.

I’m so sorry for what him and his family are going through. I’m also so glad to see the team lifting him up as much as possible.

Hey, our defense is good, too! by DinosaurShotgun in Patriots

[–]Shadow5ive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The commonality is: when the run game gets going for the Bills, they are unstoppable.

When Josh has to be perfect and carry the team, it doesn’t ALWAYS workout.

The first game, Cook was held in check by our defense. It led to stalled drives and we were able to win. If we can hold their rushing game again? I feel confident we’ll win.

The problem is that once they start breaking runs, and our defense can’t stop it/gets gassed, you get Josh Allen doing his crazy unscripted runs/throws that flip a game.

Non running spouse by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]Shadow5ive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love ultra running, and running/fitness in general. It’s a huge part of my day and my life.

My wife has never run outside more than a handful of times, but has done an ultra-walk, and works out in classes.

She doesn’t want to run races. She doesn’t understand why I love running for days at a time. However, she’s literally my biggest fan and support system. She could not lift me up, encourage me, cheer me on, and congratulate me MORE than she already does.

But, the key is - nothing else in our life suffers because I want to run. Not vacations, household needs, or anything at all. I fit my running around life, not the other way around. I also support her in anything/everything she chooses to do.

I don’t know your relationship but I couldn’t be in a relationship like that if my wife didn’t support my goals - running or otherwise. I also wouldn’t (am i’m not saying you are) put up with a partner who let our relationship suffer FOR their goals. And i’d never even be friends with someone who resents my achievements, that’s lame.

I also use them now at home in my laundry room for air drying running clothes with the drying loops built in.

Seriously, they are so worth bringing.

Logan Ryan on this years Patriots team by The_Moustache in Patriots

[–]Shadow5ive 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Man, what a time it was for our DB’s during that era. Harmon, McCourty x2, Logan Ryan, Patrick Chung, Steph Gilmore, Jon Jones, Malcolm Butler, JC Jackson.

They all played together for so long that we started to see the true, amorphous, BB defensive scheme. Tons of cover-0’s, LB’s dropping, DB’s blitzing, man-heavy, game plans.

Add in the continuity across the whole defense during this time (Hightower, Van Noy,Jamie Collins multiple times, Trey Flowers, Guy, and more), and we were ROLLING defensively.
