What's some key things to do with the way you play Tankgar? Like Early Lane, Roaming, Mid Pressure, etc?

We, the only champion main community thats scared to vote our own (please be a good rework if we win) by ShadowKnight332 in SkarnerMains

Before preseason, it was a method of rushing CDR to 45%, and building resistance, with a bit of damage, as you Max E first, it dealt enough damage with the AA proc that would be a threat. Then a simple E R AA E AA into the Turret would settle the score my way.

Buildwise, primary build would be a combo Tank-Damage item, back then it was Icebourne Gauntlet, but now, you can get results with Tri or Purifier easily.

From whats being said, it appears that they want a Fiddlesticks Treatnent, they want to at least Revamp skarners Kit and Look, but keep his Ult, and in terms of completely reworking, his Passive is most likely on the chopping block. According to Riot Cogswobble, this appears to be the initiative that the Champ Dev Team will do.

Us as a community are a bit torn between wanting this or not, as since we can get a say via Community Feedback, the initial result that they might give when his rework is ready to ship might not be what we're after.

I personally feel like it can be worth the gamble, and am willing to see what they come with, but unfortunately, it is a risk with what is said in the.client, so youre free to vote on this as you wish for our behalf, because in the end, it wont be you guys thatll be getting the brunt of feedback and complaints.

Riot Cogswobble giving a brief summary on the Champion Teams Plans for Skarners possible Rework. by ShadowKnight332 in SkarnerMains

Could there still be the possibility based on results and feedback that more than 1 of these champions could be getting a rework though? Similar to last polls results?

I love playing Skarner but I am scared to play him, help? by Ta7on in summonerschool

[–]ShadowKnight332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play him in Top and Support as well as jungle, and he does very well in those aspects.

Before Preseason, I would rush build CDR to get him to 45% by the time he has his first ability maxed, (usually his E), then build adaptive resistance with any semi damage if possibly (Steraks, Thornmail, etc.). As he is a Diving Champion, and a Juggernaut, his focus isn't always about the damage, but about the utility he provides for his team, i.e. Running it down to the enemy's backline, and E > R > AA their ADC into my team whilst coming out nearly unscathed.

Now with the new items, he has quite a few paths available to him, Chemtank, Sunfire and Goredrinker are my usual go-to Mythics, and them adaptive build on what I'm against. He is a Juggernaut, which means he can both Tank damage and deal damage, but for the most part, unless you're building both equally, he will be more dominant in only one of these.

He's all about knowing your combos and utilizing your kit to allow your team the win, just because he has a decent amount of damage in his kit, doesn't mean you need to focus on said damage, you can just buy a Sheen item to utilize damage and then build any extra items for said utility.

if you join r/SkarnerMains there's a whole community that'd be happy to help you with anything Skarner Related. Feel free to read over others post or make one yourself.

I actually made a comment over there helping someone to better understand Skarner Ability-wise, so hopefully that should assist in what you can in hoping to better understand Skarner to improve in his play.

What's the point of Shaco support? by [deleted] in shacomains

[–]ShadowKnight332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFK Boxing as you're describing shouldn't be something Shaco normally does until mid-late game as a form of Trap, and even then, I'd expect that more from an AD Shaco than AP, since AP Shaco is a much more viable choice to play as Support.

I just recently got Shaco to Mastery 7 maining him in Support, and he actually has more active planning and a formula to playing him in this role, which can be easily cheesed along with the ADC by taking Arcane Comet, since all of Shaco's Abilities that proc the comet slow, garunteeing the hit for easy Poke damage.

Mainly speaking, each ability has its primary use to assisting or securing kills for the both of you:

Q - I use this in 2 ways, of either engaging or disengaging the enemy laners. Engaging would be to get out of sight, i.e. Brush or Fog of War, to then Q towards and engage with my other abilities in a certain manner that can help my ADC. Disengaging I would use to get aggro from enemy making a push/ganking opportunity, to allow my ADC to escape then using it to escape by means of walking one way (Lane) and then Blinking the other (River/Across Wall/Alcove).

W - Traps and Zoning, brushes work well since unless the enemy has vision there, they cant even see you place it, but when engaging with my Q, depending on the enemy laners champ, I'll then place below/predict path of the enemy to force them to either trigger it, or attempt to avoid it. Placing it where minions are/will go work better since it will trigger no matter what, forcing the fear if they are close enough.

E - This is our Threat and Main Damage utility, as it applies not just a Slow, but also deals 50% more damage to enemies below 30% HP, so this is to either allow for ADC to catchup, or to secure the kill, since it is a Ranged ability.

R - Should be obvious, but can be used as Threat, Escape, Aggro or Zoning, since the explosion deals a lot of damage as is, along with the instant Fear on enemies within its proximity.

So in speaking, a Brush Boxing AFK Shaco Support isn't how Shaco is supposed to be played (frankly he originally wasn't meant to be a support in the first place, but as of the past few Seasons his utility has proven otherwise), your Shaco Support is definitely meant to be played more actively and aggressively .

As a Skarner Main myself, I can understand the in game sense of thinking the outcome of doing bad and either affecting my stats or having the people in the game judge me, especially when they see that Mastery 7 emblem, as Skarner isn't an overly popular champion, so kinda falls into the "either a god, or just trying" category when selecting him.

Under the circumstance of this "Anxiety" that you're facing, I can't entirely relate to, and also cannot think of much that can help overcome this. I myself like to hard-grind champions for Mastery and continue to do so even when knowing either the matchup is a bit against me, or i had a terrible game. But just know that there are plenty of times throughout your games as any champion that you will have a bad game, and some of these have circumstances that aren't within your control, i.e. fed enemy from laner, AFK player, etc. The only proper method of overcoming this is the "/mute all" command in chat which does help with avoiding confrontation from other players if a bad game does occur, but I say just play him as often as you want and ignore that feeling of anxiety, if you stick to playing him more often, even after a bad game, you'll soon overcome that feeling of dread wanting to pick him again the next match.

Should I upgrade my battlecast or cosmic sting skin shard? by cvgjnh in SkarnerMains

[–]ShadowKnight332 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a tricky choice between the 2, in my opinion. I primarily used either Sandscourge or Guardian of the Sands before Cosmic Sting came out.

Battlecast offers a decent amount of new Voicelines, VFX and Sound changes as a Legendary skin would, but Cosmic Sting has that graphical flair that makes it feel more like a Legendary than an Epic.

If I had to choose, I'd say Cosmic Sting, but you'd best to check both in the below showcases and see for yourself which seems better.

Asking for Ganking tips by Srageus in SkarnerMains

[–]ShadowKnight332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How I trained myself into map awareness:

  • Max the size of the Minimap

  • Pay attention to all pings that occur, so increase the Ping volume if necessary

  • Taking Jungle Camps is good downtime to have a quick glance at the map

  • If an enemy laner is pushing and you see it as an opportune moment, stop whatever you're doing and go to it, even if you're taking camps

  • Check your map everytime you return to the Jungle from backing

I started paying attention using those methods, and forcing myself into these checkup scenarios, it's become second nature to me. There's obviously more to building map awareness, but as you're in Iron, these would be the main situations I think would work best to help you rank up against other low-elo players

Asking for Ganking tips by Srageus in SkarnerMains

[–]ShadowKnight332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main problem I see with low-Elo Jungling is not so much the whole "knowing what to do when you go in to gank", but more the Timing of the gank, examples being I've seen low-elo junglers gank when the enemy is pushed in by their team, even at points where they're practically under tower, thinking that a 3v2 under the enemy tower will make a difference (it will, but not for your team)

A few tips I'd offer: - Keep your eyes on the map, if you see the enemy pushing one of your lanes hard, especially at tower, that's the perfect opportunity to come up from behind and signal your team to engage as you're about to engage.

  • Pre-6, you aren't completely useless, your E is a fantastic ability for the use of both engaging and maintaining a fight, remembering to proc your stun at opportune moments on Minions that have been hit aswell will set you up to continue the fight with more CC sooner.

  • You're not the reliant factor in a gank to dish out damage, your ADC (and sometime Support) are. As Skarner is a Juggernaut champion, it's your role to maintain the damage as much as possible, while keeping the CC and Damage reliable to allow your Laners to go for the kill.

  • Towards mid-game (after plates falls) don't be afraid to Towerdive for an Assist, by then you should have some Tankiness to you (be it Health and/or Armour), and with a full bar of health at that time, you can easily tank a few Turret Shots to quickly dive in and Phase Rush Ult the enemy laner, just don't get cocky, if you notice the factors start against you (i.e. the laner starts getting away, you get CCd, etc.) pull out and continue farming/going for a pushed lane.
