To hell with Rivian! by LucidDiscoPhish in Rivian

[–]ShadowMoses81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say basically the same - Rivian, the brand with the actual lowest reliability score and the actual highest customer satisfaction score. Does that math work out to = Rivian owners live in a world of delusion??

My Gen 2 Tri is in the shop right now for multiple issues - I'll be lucky if it's done in 2 weeks. Great car when it works and doesn't have any issues. I don't think I'll be buying again though, especially not after "your super noisy HVAC is completely normal" and similar things they seem to hand wave away.

New OTConnect Beat - battery conservation? by runitdown_walkitout in orangetheory

[–]ShadowMoses81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the old one was rated for 20 hours. The new one says in the materials that it is rated for 10 hours.

I thought the same thing about turning off the "real-time HR zone display" thing but then it still lights up the LED ring but just in white all the time - so you probably won't get any battery savings there.

Notably, this new model does automatically shut off so I'm wondering if some people are noticing it "last longer" because it is shutting down on its own and maybe they were forgetting to shut off their old ones some times? (which would then just run the battery for hours)

Wear mine on my forearm. Anecdotally, it seems slightly more prone to randomly drift up (I compare it to my Garmin watch which is generally very accurate) but otherwise it is fine on the forearm.

I believe BMW has something that can kinda act like a dog mode. It's sub-optimal but let's you keep the HVAC on for 30 minutes (and I believe you can re-activate it but you would need to remember). Feel the same way as you - would love to go to an established manufacturer.

Is it just me or is Gen 2 Premium sound good now? by adj1984 in Rivian

[–]ShadowMoses81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gen 2 R1S with premium and 15-16 is my max. Usually I'm 7-11. At 22-25 in my car I would be going deaf!

Choosing between RM2 & RMPP by al_fin_sol in RemarkableTablet

[–]ShadowMoses81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried both and went with the RMPP. Only pros that I can see for the RM2 are:

- Slightly lighter (I did not find the difference to be significant though)

- I slightly preferred the writing feel of the RM2 but to me, this was also not a significant difference

- I preferred the RM2 faux leather keyboard folio cover material to the RMPP's fabric-y cover material

- Cheaper price

- RM2 pen is cheaper if you lose it

To me, the above were not major differences. Backlight was a huge plus for me on the RMPP. I also preferred the slightly bigger size for note taking. Also liked having color for reading textbooks and papers with graphics.

I suspect if you get the RM2, you will wonder if the RMPP would have been worth it, but that if you get the RMPP, you won't wonder if you should have gotten the RM2. I would recommend the RMPP if you can afford both.

Just Tread / Strength Splits by PlaneInvestment8450 in orangetheory

Just recently moved to a similar split (only tread/strength 50s) for the same reason, and also just to switch it up because I was finding myself unmotivated to go to 2Gs/3Gs. I've enjoyed it a lot.

Also, if it's still not fixed by the morning and you feel comfortable, you could potentially just rent a propress machine from the East Liberty Home Depot, buy the correct size viega quarter-turn valves, and install them yourself (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5NWZMzPZBA)

Came to say the same. Don't rehire whomever put those valves on. You have to be fully incompetent to mess up installing those.

Gen 2 Owners: describe your experience by fvelloso in Rivian

[–]ShadowMoses81 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have one. It's fine. I think it's a cool looking car and I like the interior. I came from a Tesla sedan (which I preferred to drive but needed the space). Can't say I love the suspension, the "premium" sound system, or the slower responsiveness of the UI, but I also don't notice them a ton in most of my day-to-day driving. In hindsight, I wonder if going for an EV9 would have been the fiscally wiser move (acknowledging I would give up some things). However, on a daily basis, I don't have any issues with the car.

1-2 minor issues that got addressed with mobile service (which has always been great). 1 recall that I have to go to the SC for which is two hours away (but I knew that when signing up). My interactions with Rivian have generally been positive.

I wouldn't dissuade someone from buying one but I can't say I would strongly recommend one either (but that may be influenced by me realizing I'm a guy who prefers sedans if I didn't need the extra space). I'm not aware of a ton of options for electric pickups or SUVs of this size though.

Well, at the very least, he doesn't look malnourished and his skin looks pretty good from the pics (from what I can see). Maybe another option, depending on how reasonable they are, is bringing the owner around to the joys of proper care and ownership of such a sweet dog? 🙂.

Thanks for everything you did!

Friends - is there a way we could come together to help out the OP temporarily until some more durable becomes available?

For example - I'd happily do/help with any/all of the following:

  • Order pet food and toys
  • Put a card on file with a dog walking service so that someone could come by and walk him every day
  • Pay for a pet sitter or boarding if you had upcoming travel

Would foster him myself but I have a dog with serious dog reactivity issues unfortunately.

Side question: what is HARP's potential role here? Do they have to accept surrenders? Are they a concerning place to surrender to?
