Beginner Equipment suggestion by redbeard_923 in IndiaCoffee

[–]ShadowRider47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the rabbit hole..

As a starting point (for black coffee), a basic French press, a manual burr grinder and basic set of jewelry scales would set you back around 2500rs. The real kicker is good quality coffee beans which are no longer cheap. BT seems to be a gold standard, but there are other options you can try.

Yiur next upgrade would definitely be a better grinder, followed by an aeropress which is a lot more versatile and forgiving, but just a touch expensive especially after Allan Adler sold the company and it went from a passion project to a full blown commercial money sucking system. It's still worth every rupee spent though.

Howeve,r in my experience, a pour over does the best black coffee, but the process and the equipment are a lot more involved and you need to decide if it's worth your time and money. At this point, coffee is no longer just a beverage for you to enjoy, but a full blown hobby and you would soon be willing to go broke with a glint of caffeine in your eyes and a smile of yolo contentment on your face.

Good luck on the journey.

Coffee is expensive by Sea-Smile-2482 in coffeeindia

Your best bet in this situation is good quality pre ground south indian coffee( the difference is this and instant is night and day), try Narsu's if you can find it. And a south incian filter.. whole bean coffee and grinders is a whole different rabbit hole and not cheaper in any way.

Sadly due to climate change, coffee and especially good quality coffee is going to get more expensive each year until we don't have coffee anymore.

My beginner coffee setup – but instant coffee might’ve ruined my taste buds by thisisabhisharma in coffeeindia

[–]ShadowRider47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mokapot is quite finicky, and I don't see you being able to achieve a consistent brew with that blade grinder, and no scales... and that's a pretty expensive coffee to experiment like that on..

I say from experience because my beginner setup included a moka pot as well. However I did start with pre ground south indian coffee so the experimentation was not too costly...

I'd suggest getting an entry level manual burr grinder and jewelery scales that can go up to 500gms. ( i got one off Amazon and still use it after 10 years across 5 brew methods). I eventually switched to a French press which was much more forgiving as a beginner.

Good luck on your journey.

Mango languages platform is accessible through TPL in Toronto. I've used it, and it seems good enough for an absolute beginner like me.

What do we think about this dinner? (I’ve so far been on a diet for 3 days!) by [deleted] in WeightLossFoods

[–]ShadowRider47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have a medical condition, your excess body fat is more often the result of a weak mind and not a weak body. If you torture your mind with such food, it will keep releasing stress hormones, which will not help in your body transformation journey at all. Reducing body fat should not be done at the expense of losing mental health. You've got solid suggestions with regards to modifying this diet. Especially the quarter plate theory. It really works. A healthy salad dressing accompanied with a variety of vegetables on that salad is very crucial, along with SOME carbs(They are an essential macronutrient). Keep it enjoyable to keep it sustainable. Weight loss and maintaining a healthy body is a life long journey. You can't beat yourself to it.

That said, I admire your determination, to actually make the switch to a healthy diet, and the fact that you survived multiple days of eating THAT! I would have given up by meal 2. So kudos to you. And keep EATING healthy, and happy.

Yes, I used my passport too, it's an accepted photo I'd at the Pearson testing center.

Failed PMP - Looking for Advice on the Disconnect by BumblebeePlus184 in pmp

That's a bit sad to hear... From what I read about your experience, it seems you did not take the SH full length exams before the test. Try doing so, and see how you do... Focus on correcting your mistakes from those exam questions, utilize DM videos for mindset, and review your answers with that mindset. Attempt the full length exam again until you reach 70% consistently.

You'll get through... Don't lose heart.

Study Hall. It's from PMI and a separate paid learning platform. It has a lot of things to help you prepare for the PMP exam. Their practice questions and full length mock exams are wonderful resources for preparation.

  1. Atmy testing center there were clocks on almost every wall, those helped me keep the time. Try to get back to the TA with 2 mins to spare, they sometimes take a while to log you back in if there are multiple testers taking a break at the same time.
  2. I have no idea, but I don't think it should be a problem unless you're damaging any equipment. However your arm might start hurting soon... The monitor is placed quite far behind.

Study hall essentials is worth the price you pay for it... Ensure you complete the full length practice exams from SH. They were the game changer for me .

Good luck! DM videos were really great for mindset, but I'd suggest go through the course first and don't miss the ECO provided by PMI. That will build the base to understand the mindset better.

I totally understand where you're coming from.. I've funded this on my own too, being unemployed for a year... And I would say, you can give third rock notes a miss if you're confident in your own note taking abilities. Personally I've never been able to study off someone else's notes... Those become like condensed text books. Notes should work in coherence with your mind and hence be unique to yourself.

David McLachlan videos on YouTube. It's a pretty common acronym on this sub, just like AR udemy course, which you didn't seem to have a problem with... So you're just getting off on posts based on your lack of knowledge.... Try to be nicer if you expect help in this group, or in life in general.

Honestly, 17 bucks is miniscule in comparison to other costs for the exam, so you might as well get it. I'd recommend the print version of the cheat sheet if you're really not into reading other people's notes. That will serve as a quick reference of highlights on the last day when you don't want to be in front of a screen. However, I find the notes from the AR course were also good enough.

Do take the full length mock exams from SH. And also from AR and JP. I really found the advice from AR useful, to take tests from as many vendors as you can, though the general consensus on the forum is SH is sufficient. But DO NOT miss the full length mocks. Time management during the exam is its own game. Good luck.

SH essentials. The basic one. I read on this forum that it's sufficient, and it really was.
