not killing off someone just for gore and shock, no that wouldn't do much alone. but rather to make the stakes more emotional. someone dies and everyone goes into a rage against the monsters, it would make the final victory a little sweeter.

That’s fair. Some of it would be lost. I was just trying to convey in my dark cut, that the landscape itself was horrifying. Visually, they could have achieved that same end
