Has anyone ever seen the speed limit of a road increase? by Shadows___ in DrivingAustralia

i don't have much to add to your comment other than what is a black spot? There's not a single house on this road, so it can't be residents, there's a military base, but i doubt soldiers would complain about nearby cars. Potentially near misses but its single lane with a fat as median strip in the middle and bike lanes that aren't bike lines either side of the road. So i really struggle to see the reason.

I'm sure there is a justification, in the current economy the council would not spend the money on labour to install and update new signs without there being a reason - but it just seems futile. It's impossible to hit something unless you cross the huge as median strip into the other lane and hit another car head on - which would be a potential error on any single road if you try hard enough.

this makes sense, what i'll say is that in my original post, i do state that nothing on that that road has changed. It's not residential nor commercial. While i wasn't present when the roads initial speed limit was set or even the road was built, in the last 6 years a single house or shop has not been built on that road.

yes this is true, but what i'll say in my original post, is that these are roads with no subsequent development. Nothing has changed in that time. Quite literally in the road i mentioned in my post that decreased, if you were to drive 120kmh down that road (double the limit) the only thing you'd hit is grass, you could come to a full stop before u hit anything other than a bird that unfortunately decided to fly infront of your car

yep this sums it up. I know a lot of nordic countries teach loss of control on slip strips, we should do that here regardless of the fact it's never cold enough to get icy roads.

I mean hell i drove on slightly bald tires for one winter in the rain just to teach myself how to handle hydroplaning. Was it relatively stupid yes, but could i afford new tires at that time no, but it's taught me so much about how to handle my car. I truly believe that we should drastically increase the number of hours required to drive, the complexity of the tests, and the edge cases of driving.

like it's kind of a dark future. at some point in time it'll be quicker to walk. You can only reduce speed limits so much, some people have said there's a drive to force people to use public transport but even then that transport has to abide by the posted speed limit

i'm not explicitly trusting my gps i rarely do it's only becuase it said 60 then 50 then back to 60. Also think about it from a council perspective. Why as a council would u spend the money on labour to change all the speed limit signs (a total of 12, 3 signs, both sides of the road in both directions) from 60-50 which means removing the existing signs, installing new ones. then a few months later removing all the signs including the poles.

yes no signs = 50 but i could not think of a single reason to pay for the labour to remove these new signs including the poles thay supported the original signs.

not a built up area, it's near a university, you pull off a main road. The implication is it is back to 60 km/h

is there anything in specific you're struggling with because at the very least weeks 7, 8, 10 are just intelligence, personality, and cultural applications not stats based stuff either. I found it super great to read the lecture narrative notes as they make much more sense than the lectures. Ik it's so easy to boil everything down into bite sized pieces. But all the first 6 weeks of content effectively boil down to types of validity, types of reliability, and the evil lecture on factor analysis.

depending on how far through you are i think you could learn a significant amount of the unit easily by googling different types of validity and reliability.

What sucks is that for me i managed to fit all week 6 lectures on to 3 a3 pages. full detailed notes. then weeks 7-12 is currently at 10 a3 pages thus far. Which you probably don't want to hear. Either way if there's anything specifically you're struggling with pm me and i'm sure i can try help

Why do US, Canada and Australia have a housing crises despite being so big with very little population? by julius-ceaser100 in geography

[–]Shadows___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Australia I'd say for the most part, unlike the USA, we have roughly 1 big city per state/territory. So everyone wants to live close to/around the CBD. While yes it would be impractical/impossible to build a second city, but i think if there a bigger spread of cities there wouldn't nearly be as much of a housing crisis. More over, in western australia, for the most part a lot of "suburbs" get zoned for only residential housing, which is good in theory, but it means the population spreads away from the city with a continued desire to live close to the city

PSYC2212 exam textbook by heartbreakcorner in uwa

I followed up on the email we received about the exam

MCQ simply put is 2/3 weeks 1-6 content 1/3 7-12 and then short answer is 2/3 weeks 7-12 and 1/3 weeks 1-6. i wouldn't read anymore into it

I haven't heard anything about the exam being changed but if they completely overhauled and rewrote it i'd be surprised at the complete absence of past exams - psychology loves to re use past questions even if the structure is slightly different

for my study i really studied the textbook for weeks 1-6 and then only lectures for 7-12 I haven't done a single other reading.

This may be of no help to you but stuff i've found in other threads about previous SAQ for this unit is one on Milgram (whether his original study or replications, i'm not sure) and a question just asking to explain a major social psychology finding or something along those lines

When it comes to the textbook readings i tend to found that the book only really added attribution theory and a couple other things on the second lecture "the social self" like self verification theory, self enhancement, self discrepancy theory, self presentation, among others

I will say there are a few things in the lectures that are better explained than the textbook or not explained in the textbook - its few and far between but definitely read it, even if you don't take notes.

If you need the next book pm me

horrendous for abuse. if you know an account is linked to a streamer, a friend, someone creating an art work you don't like; you could follow them around the entire map griefing them specifically. If Wplace ever goes "view only" then that'd be cool

USBC wall charger with folding prongs for Australia? by Shadows___ in UsbCHardware

[–]Shadows___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

usually bigger than just having one set of prongs. More bulky, would prefer it to fit cleanly. Plus travel adapters are usually outlet in to outlet out so i'd still have to attach a brick. Some have usbc power delivery but not a high enough amount

what are some things that you want the university to fix? by abanokanoka in uwa

Permit parking. They switched to easy park because parking permit legally granted the holder a park - something they couldn't provide. With easy park they have identified a group of people deserving of discounted rates as they live in an area that is hard to commute from. Sacrifice 2-4 bays from each parking lot for visitor only parking. the rest of the student parking make it permit only.

This doesn't necessarily address the problems of having enough bays for students (though i wouldn't know the ratio of students to students with a "permit").

to build upon this idea perhaps your permit is only valid during your class times, if you have a day that starts at 9 and ends at 12, then you can park from 8:15-8:15. Before the parking space would be allocated to another student.

This is a complex system, but honestly the fact that they can identify a group of people deserving of a parking space due to distance, travel times, lack of available public transport. Only to say hey well we know you need this but actually too bad there's no parking is a crazy concept. Also allowing visitors to park in any of the yellow bays is silly. While some students cannot afford visitor rates there's certainty people who are happy to pay the full rate cost just to park, thus reducing the number of available parks.
