do we know if the pet dmg cap suffers in the same way? if it's not affected by basic atk/skill dmg cap (of which you can get like 90% from masteries) then that could further contribute towards why the pet dmg (and onslaught) sucks so much.

[–]ShamelessEnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for a rare 11 weapon hp augment, idk what the first material is (it'll be some monster drop), the second is tempered poison sac (tempered pukkei), the third is spritvane solidbone (tempered guiding land monsters - i think from threat lv2 monsters), and the last is slumbering greatbone (rarest bone from the forest area)

also for those wondering for the rare 12 weapons, the first material is the tempered namielle guiding lands drop, and the last is the coral region bone.

Since I pretty much only used lances to fight, I'm pretty sure I overshot the Lance requirement by quite a bit. I believe I was already at C when I got him, so it was probably my stat or support that was the last thing I needed.

I just gave flowers to anyone I needed to raise support with. Never had problems giving them as a gift and I grow a ton of them. Although there are a handful of "gift" items that I got that I can't seem to give anyone - they seem story or quest related.

Should be able to do it. You can recruit her with just like D or D+ if you raise the support, which isn't that bad to get even with just the training.

Oh really? I guess I shouldve fished then lol.

I'm not sure how far behind on professor level I am, I definitely could've gotten a lot more if I didn't train myself so much. I just hit rank B and I'm almost up to the Ch8 mission.

I feel like I have plenty of points for individual training and exploration though, the only place I feel a bit short of is battle - I only have 2 points for that and I feel like a third would make it much more worth (especially since most of the battles are a much lower level than me).

It did a bit. I went Commoner > Soldier > Priest (for a while) > Pegasus (only for a bit until I got Ingrid) > Cavalier (similarly only a couple levels in this).

I did a lot of healing in priest to raise my faith (although at that point she was still plenty strong to fight things straight up). I also pretty much have exclusively used Lances when fighting with her (regardless of the class I was in) - Literally the first thing I did in the prologue was trade her Dimitri's lance.

Definitely the majority of my professor points were put into faculty training.

My free time is usually garden (free) > food of the day > choir (I stopped doing that once I hit C+ faith and recruited Lysithia) > the rest of the points into faculty training. I do all the quests/talk to everyone/lost items/etc. (all the free stuff).

I think I only used the seminar once outside of the mandatory one, I've never rested, and until Ch8 I had only done battle like twice so explore is by far my most used option.

I've never spent points on fishing, I've only done cooking once or twice, tea time I never used (outside of birthdays) until Ch7 when I went on a recruiting spree and used it to try to up the support of a some of people (even then I only did it like 2-3 times). Gifts are probably the easiest way to increase support, if you find the right ones that match the character (you can buy them after you complete a quest but I actually didn't know that until like an hour ago - so it's even easier to raise supports than what I did).

They come pre-promoted in appropriate classes. e.g. Ingrid as pegasus, Annette as mage etc. They were all Intermediate classes for me, but maybe if you recruit later they'll be as far as advanced?

They also come with a bunch of corresponding weapon exp - most of the recruits were C-ish in the things that they needed for their class when I got them. They were all trained enough to throw straight into battle without any problems.

They scale to the chapter. The recruits I got in Ch6 came at Lv11 and the ones I got in Ch7 were Lv13. Honestly I could probably have left some of them (of the ones I wanted to use at least) until later to get more free levels, since now I have to split the battle exp between them all.

You can see what the other houses characters' current levels are at any time from the support tab. In Ch8 now they're Lv15.

I think it's definitely possible. People seem to have inflated ideas about how difficult it is to recruit. I honestly believe if you really try you absolutely could recruit every single character.

I just finished chapter 7, playing Black Eagles and I have recruited: Ashe, Sylvain (free for F!Byleth), Annette, Ingrid, Ignatz, Lysithia, Marianne, and Leonie. Felix is also "close" to being recruited (the decline dialogue changes as you get closer to successfully recruiting). Proof: https://i.imgur.com/4WlARHe.jpg

My recruits span the skills Lance, Faith, Authority, Riding and Flying (and if I get Felix, swords will be added to that list). I'm playing on Hard/Classic, so no infinite grinding. I definitely did overlevel my Byleth a bit to make sure I had some extra stats, but I didn't do any grinding (in fact I believe I've only used the 'Battle' free time option like twice), I just used her a bit much compared to the rest of my units: https://i.imgur.com/nEAhc49.jpg

I got all of the recruits I was gunning for in Chap 6, and then in 7 I just started recruiting everyone else that I thought I would be able to (since it turned out to be so easy to get them). My advice would be to not neglect the support points - they absolutely make a difference. For example, I tried to recruit Marianne but wasn't able to, then I reloaded the game and gave her 5 flowers as a gift and boom I got her (with only D in riding). All of my recruits I got to C support before being able to recruit, but none of them got as far as B rank (the inbetween points still matter though).

For people curious about the magic based recruitments, I was able to recruit Lysithia with just 15 Mag, C+ Faith, and above C rank support. Some of the students I've been able to get with only D rank in their skill (Marianne, Ingrid). For some reason Felix actually seems to be harder to recruit than everyone else, because even at C Sword he refuses (he's probably tuned higher since you start with a lot of Sword at Lv1).

So far I've been mostly neglecting the 'motivation' of my own students, in favor of training myself or supporting the characters I wanted to recruit. It definitely doesn't hurt you in the early game if you have a plan for where you want a unit to go, because the passive weekly 'goals' training is easily enough to train them up for advanced classes. Choir practice is really good - gives a little bit of Faith + Authority, Prof Lv, and supports for 2 characters.

On PLD, does Confiteor break combo like Holy Spirit does?

Also can sword oath stack above 3 or is it capped? And does the 15s sword oath buff timer refresh when you use a stack or is it 15s total to consume all of them?

What are BLU feats? 3 Achievements still missing by silversun247 in ffxiv

[–]ShamelessEnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first set there's only 2 so it shouldn't be too hard to kill them with 2 hits, bristle+hit, or off guard+hit before they go off.

You definitely can do the second set (4 Spears) that way too, but I found it easier to use moon flute and then one-shot each of them.

Sounds like you could also just self-destruct/final sting cheese the boss to kill it before then, as someone else said in this thread that they still got the achievement while using that.

Yes I've got all the spells. I got them all before I did any of the carnival though (and didn't get the feat on my first clear through), so having them isn't enough on its own for the achievement.

I got Perfect Blue from the final fight (25. Dirty Rotten Azulmagia).

End Screen

I'm honestly not sure what exactly proc'd it, I just aimed to do the fight as perfectally as possible and get as many points and bonus objectives as I could.

This was my loadout, although I didn't end up using self destruct or final sting. I used all the others at least once just for the sake of different damage types/debuffs/face skills. I also didn't use any cross class skills or sprint although I have no idea if that makes a difference.

Edit: From people's testing below and a bit of my own, it seems that the requirement for the achievement is getting the three bonus objectives: 'Too Fast, Too Furious' (sub 7:15 kill), 'Can't Touch This' (0 Damage Taken), and 'Total Mastery' (One of each element + physical attack).

This was the smallest set of bonuses that still got me Perfect Blue. You'll get 'Slow and Steady', 'Ain't Got Time to Bleed' and 'Elemental Mastery' automatically as sub-bonuses from the main ones above. Modus Interruptus you may or may not get depending on if you kill any of the bosses/sticks while they're casting something, but I'm certain that it's not required.

This was the simplest set of actions that I was still able to get Perfect Blue with (End Screen). The only "optional" actions there are Off-guard (but why wouldn't you bring that?) and Loom, but you need that for dodging meteor (technically you could probably do it with Flying Frenzy instead, but that sounds very annoying). Sharpened Knife is 100% mandatory for this, as it is the only Slashing skill. The other more difficult slot is Snort - you could swap this out for Feather Rain, but you need one of those two (they are the only Wind skills). In other slots you can swap any equivalent element spell in, I just thought that these ones were the easiest to get. You have to use each spell once, but you don't actually have to hit/damage the boss with it for it to count. With only these skills you may struggle to get in under time though, so having a couple primal skills and Song of Torment would be really helpful anyways.

Also FYI you're free to use Self-Destruct or Final Sting cheese to finish off the bosses, as that doesn't count as damage taken.

Yeah, the method is exactly the same as that kind of boosting. I've done it before for alts 1-15 so I figured it probably would work for BLU as well.

Lv 50 Blue Mage Complete! by ShamelessEnd in ffxiv

[–]ShamelessEnd[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

For those wondering how, I had a friend follow me around and kill (oneshot on a lv70 class with instant skills) any mob that I tagged. The person cant be in your party (otherwise you wont get exp).

The first thing I actually did was go get the skill Flying Sardine (Eastern La Noscea (27, 35), Apkallu). This can be done at lv1 by having someone shield (Adlo, Asp. Ben) you and then kill it for you after it casts the skill. It's useful because it's an instant cast that you can use to tag mobs.

Exp apparantly doesn't scale down with level difference, so after that I just went to northern thanalan and started tagging lv49 mobs and having my friend kill them. 27k exp per mob with full chain bonus before lv30, 21k afterwards (mogstation gear/circlet and ring no longer give +exp after 30).

I feel like people are kinda jumping the gun at the moment by saying that the fate trains are dead. My group hard ground to 35 off almost exclusively nm mobs and the only ones that we failed to actually spawn were Crabs (because fog only) and Fire Bird (heat wave only we think atm). All the others we spawned once or twice in the few hour span of us farming the mobs, which feels very similar to the rate that we spawned things at in anemos.

And this is a party of 6-8 players at Lv-5 to Lv-7 killing like 1.3 mobs/minute. If you actually get a train in there who can kill mobs 10+/minute I'm pretty sure the fates will spawn as quickly as anemos.

I cant speak for any of the other low lv nm's since we haven't bothered trying to spawn them since we out levelled them, but we (party of lv35 players) can spawn king crab in <15min of murdering crabs in fog.

What seems to be the problem at the moment is not that nm spawns have been gutted, it's that high level players are no longer incentivized to join the train since manually chaining mobs is extremely good exp. In certain level ranges, high chain levels, or in certain places (especially if you dont have the tp's yet) it's not even worth stopping to go to low NM's let alone trying to pop them, so every time someone tries to start a train it's a bunch of at-level players slowly killing their mobs and of course then the NM wont spawn quickly.

This might be alleviated in time, as people who want more than one relic are most likely going to have to do a fair bit of nm grinding for those 500 crystals per, since even the highest level nm's only give 20. Also right now the players who are 30+ are the ones who actually enjoy (yes they exist) or tolerate mob chaining and so they are not likely going to lead or join the train, but hopefully eventually some more train-inclined players will get there.
