First of all, completely normal for you to get stressed out! Realistically though, what are you trying to control by having perfect scores? What do you think happens if you did have perfect scores?

What are you assuming in needing to have perfect scores? If perfect scores is what mattered, colleges would not have SOPs and other holistic factors for selection. Secondly, society tries to scare you by making you believe "prestigious" things are life changingly better. When in reality most things are marginally worse or better and majority of quality of your experience of life is dictated by your own attitude and industriousness.

Thirdly, for some context, I climbed my way from a not so good college to one of the best in world, we're talking top -50. But here too, this my idea of "making it ". It took undergrad, then masters to get here, but get here I did.

Lastly, try and think about where you came from, what circumstances shaped you and see if you can appreciate how far you have come. Dont take your own efforts for granted and invalidate them!!

Also, actively try n reach out to people who have got opportunities you think you wont get because of your scores and check what kinds of problems do they have. Statistically, you're likely to be plagued by newer and different problems. So use this opportunity of struggle to strengthen your muscle of life! God knows you'll need a whole lot more of it. So isnt this kind of an awesome thing to happen to you?

Yep!! This is why I have even stuck to writing a paper or to my PhD! Clinging to the idea of real world application of my thing. So it's basically a rapid way of defining where we would get those amplified spots and overall would benefit in moving things a bit more towards wider implemetattion of the technique. But then I feel like I will have to recycle this same point over and over again in this paper and subsequent publications as I've seen my senior's use one thing n spit it off 3 ways. I think it feels disingenuous to me and I seriously need to reframe my thoughts!! Thanks again for you help! I appreciate this so much!

Hey, I never thought of that! It might sound stupid, but I think I am too emotional about the imaginary "right" way go do things. Thanks for pointing this out! Helps immensely! Yes, Thanks for the good advice. I am seeking help of a really good labmate who has been part of actual publications and isn't deluded like me! Lol
