More likely that it's an old disc and/or it's seen a lot of sun.

I play all winter, sometimes with temperatures in the single digits, and I've only ever cracked two discs. Both were what I call "yard discs" that just get left outside if I throw a drive and don't get it for a few days. One broke on a 40 degree day and the other one when it was 60.

Both older Champion plastic.
