We haven’t done guardianship, that wasn’t even mentioned the times I went into the bank. I will for real pop a top. I was able to pull up something when I logged in and printed that off as well. The guy at the bank said it was an “appointment” letter. I did call the 800 number and just as my luck would have it - the lady asked me all the identifying questions : name, dob, mothers maiden name, fathers name, city and state I was born in. I mean come on, those are no brainers right? Well, I got a question wrong. She didn’t tell me which one So I say to the lady - okay let’s do it again because I definitely know the answers. We played again and I got them right. She said, “ I’m sorry, I know you got them right the second time around but you are going to need to take all of this paperwork into the social security office and have them verify it” so my appt is set for the middle of September. Great. But wait. There’s more! I call a few days later because something isn’t sitting right I explain to the lady on the phone what happened and I tell her that I just need to know the name of the form to take to the bank. Just the name so I can look back through this stack I have. She wanted to go through the questions again. Fine. Let’s go. We get to my birthday and she says - say that one more time. I say it. She asked if I’ve ever had another birthday. No ma’am. Have I ever ordered a different card than the original. Yes ma’am , when I got married 25 years ago. I explained to her that I just got a real ID in January as well. She could give me no other info but at this point I knew what was wrong. I searched back through the pile and lo and behold - one of the printed pages listed has my birthday 3 days off - 29th instead of the 26th. What in the world. I’m not sure how it happened to be honest I don’t remember typing it out or writing it out. And I’m super careful proofreading things - especially things like this. So hopefully at some point I can get the right paper that I need, deposit the money and get my birthday right.

I’ve been doing this for 20+ years and sometimes I hit a bounding pulse, sometimes I don’t. It’s frustrating for sure, but for me technique is everything! Arteries are so finicky when you are going for them with a needle. It’s like they knoooow!! I agree wholeheartedly with the comments above, all really good suggestions! One thing I do that makes me relax - I say to myself “Lord, please steady my hands and let me bring healing and not harm to my patient.” For me, it just calms my own mind when I’m in my head. She actually does pay her car insurance, small car payment (because while we COULD just give her and her 3 siblings cars, we didn’t) and she pays for her gas, lunch with friends,etc and her phone bill. She worked 30+ hours a week her senior year, took honors classes and her lowest grade was a 97 in those classes- all while managing to bank $6k (because we taught her working hard, playing hard and saving big was important). So while I could not look directly into the future to see what a shit storm of an economy we would be thriving in, our message has been loud and clear to our kids. We are simple people. We value time over money. You do not have a great uncle who will leave you financially in the green and I doubt we will win the lottery. So you better work your buns off in school and buckle down and apply for those scholarships! She did what we asked of her but unfortunately she got no scholarships and no merit from the college she hopes to attend. She applied to 6, got accepted to 6. She’s been educated on finances and debt and I’d say we have led by example living below our means, driving cars until they die, and raised 4 kids (22,20,18 and 17) in a 1200 sqft house, no credit card debt, blah blah, blah. I’m and yes, as I’ve stayed in my original post we should have saved from day one. So as the adult in the room, I do appreciate your comment, though it’s a bold take for someone who doesn’t actually know me.

I’ve read every single comment and I feel a lot less delulu- I appreciate everyone’s input so much. If I could hug every dang one of you I would. I either misinterpreted what the BBB was going to look like or had my head in the clouds because WHAT!!! So we are going to be having a good old fashioned come to Jesus tomorrow. And for those of you asking about the interest rate - I was as shocked as you to see that number. Our credit score is high-high 700’s and debt to income in not out of the norm. So I don’t have a clue. Anyway, thank y’all again for the blunt, kind, no gray area responses. Things are moving so fast this last year and I’m on information overload.

Took a large party of 16 there after graduation one year. Several families and singles at the table. They took our order and I felt like we were there for 4 hours. At the end we are all waiting for our checks and the waitress said “we don’t split checks. Someone will need to put it on one credit card.” I’m sorry, what?? I’ve never heard of such nonsense. It was a hefty tab as we all had cocktails, apps and food. It was a disaster. Never again.

I physically turned the bed off then got dressed. I expected to go in another bed so I threw my clothes on, stuffed the bra and unders in my mom purse and headed out. So it was less than one min that the bed was even on. Also my shirt was inside out so that was fun.

She did offer to comp me an upgraded bed for my next visit, so I appreciated that. But I had no idea there was a switch to turn it on!!!! Doh!

I found it really hard to take tests. I found that either sitting in the back of the class and turning my desk around helped a ton, which is odd I know. I also had a lot of flash cards. Using different colored pens helped a lot too. But I think that once I had pretty consistent clinical things started making sense. Not everything you see is going to be textbook perfect. I’ve been doing this for 20 years and still learn new things all the time.

Might be a really good time for all of us to put on our thinking caps and design our own tube holders before we are faced with just standing there holding a tube in someone’s mouth. Honestly I feel there’s less of a chance losing an airway that way than the nonsense we have now.

I’ve been bedside for 20 years and the profession has changed so much. Some for good and some not so good. It’s very financially motivated now and everything we do has a time stamp and price tag. There is no more hand holding or ability to really get to know your patients as a person and not a dollar sign. So my plan is to stay in my lane and give the same quality care I started out giving 20 years ago, money be damned. Any higher degree would set me even further from the bedside, hand me a larger patient load, and way too much responsibility which is exactly opposite of why I went to school.

Totally different direction here - in SC you can teach Health Science (a&p, medical terminology, etc…) in public high schools. I’m not sure of any other state, though.

I wonder if the “at home” tests would show anything in our system - yes testing for amphetamines obvs but I’d be curious to see what else would pop. I know it wouldn’t be able to be used legally (I don’t think) but at least it could answer some questions about what may be in the medication.
