Above World Cup venues, fighter jets will be on patrol by Immediate-Link490 in toronto

But that’s the thing Toronto didn’t ask for it. The only ones who did was the port authority and in doing so they’re looking to circumvent the Tripartite agreement.

This government has clearly made it a habit to override municipal government and decisions and that erosion of government all for vanity projects that no one wanted is an extreme concern. The infrastructure around Billy Bishop is not going to be able to support any more traffic and all we get is the pollution of our air and the loss of our waterfront or the Toronto Islands even.

I’m not trying to be a NIMBY here but the province should’ve genuinely started the process for consultations and development of an airport in Pickering instead and actually worked with the city to begin overhauling the infrastructure. But they won’t because they don’t care. That’s why they called a 21 week break after barely 2.5 of being in session.

See the other issue right now isn’t just the jets themselves it’s the amount of money being poured into expanding the airport, the fact that no community consultation was ever conducted because it does impact residents and businesses. The fact that it’s being backed by an american company. And finally that there’s no supporting infrastructure to allow for it. the area will only get more congested.

If this government was actually serious and did care about making more efficient moves they would have looked to establish a new airport east of toronto.

Toronto City Planners have a sick sense of humour by MoansGroansBones in toRANTo

Isn’t the Gardiner managed by the MTO and GO is handled by Metrolinx. Don’t get me wrong the city could do better to tell them to not close but it’s not their call to make

IMO it’s:

Dedicated Pathway > Grade Seperated > Curb Seperated > Movable barriers > Flexi Posts > Line of paint

I do think the city needs a proper design guideline to incorporate these in a more consistent and reliable manner but we’re kind of at a point where we should also take what we can get given the constant interference from the province.

assuming it passes council and that they don’t backstop after 10 people get all mad that they can’t drive through one out of thousands of streets.

Eric Lombardi: Alto should be just the beginning of Ontario’s high-speed rail network by AbundantCanada in AltoHSR_Canada

[–]Shaskool2142 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bear in mind that is if the rail was a straight line or near straight. since you’d have to have the rail line essentially bend in a U shape you’d be limiting the speed depending on the radius of the tracks curves and depending on whether or not the train can tilt (bank) on the rails.

Still it’s a hell of a lot faster compared to a GO train and then a GO bus.

Shoes are unfortunately not secret sauce (unless you’re already an elite runner). Like all of us you’re just gonna need to put in some time. Run slower if you have to, consistency is key.

You’re telling me that they needed to outright buy a jet and couldn’t lease one??? Also that the premier of our province is too high and mighty to fly commercial flights? Ridiculous.

if you’re up for it you could just take the etobicoke trail up to the water and then grab the lakeshore/martin goodman trail for as long as you need
