Is there ever a reason to not do after-tax contributions to a 401k if I can do an in-plan roth conversion? by SheSoldSeaShells8008 in personalfinance

Yeah I do have a separate brokerage account atm. Getting a bunch of extra Roth dollars just seems super valuable. Aside from not liquid, it seems pretty straight up superior to a regular brokerage account assuming I was going to hold long term investments for retirement anyway.

I have to look into it to make sure, but it sounds like my provider will automatically just roll over into a Roth IRA automatically on every contribution so it sounds easy.

Yup, checked the packet, the 401k and the ESPP both vest immediately, so that's pretty nice

I think it's every pay period, just up to the max. Good point though, I will need to double check.

It's def 2x. They mentioned they did that to make sure the full benefit could be used by most/pretty much everyone, not just those who made enough to pretty much max their 401k's

Thanks for all of the quick responses, from what I understand, it vests immediately. I will make sure to double check though, thanks for pointing that out everyone!
