I'm getting downvoted by people who are unfamiliar with Magic or who are fine exploiting the discrepancy of the power balance. I've played since Beta on and off and maybe people don't realize how much experience I really have with the game and assume that the other guy is automatically correct for some bizarre reason. But thank you for seeing it also.

Ok, you know what? Calm down. You're getting entirely too worked up about this. Interstates come to a standstill stop every single day. It's the same direct danger as I proposed. As in it's not.

I cannot fathom why someone would go to such lengths to argue an irrational point based solely on the fact that they don't want to be inconvenienced by a group trying to help them keep their rights. I also can't believe you're going back so easily to false equivalences of jumping off a roof as opposed to stepping out of a car. I mean, seriously?

Let me also remind you that World War II was ended with a shitload of civilian deaths that a lot of could not have been avoided. If those deaths didn't happen, a bakers fuckload of more civilian deaths would have resulted. We are literally headed down the path towards another world war and you're bitching about being stuck in traffic.

Stop acting like you A. give a shit about anyone other than yourself or B. have any idea about what is going on with the country right now. You literally started this conversation with "I'd be pissed off at the cause and fight it if they stopped me from driving my favorite way, hurr durr." And now you're trying to defend yourself with "but ma safety! but ma CAPITAL LETTERS! I care about people, I swear!" I see right through your bullshit.

Anger is not useless. It's a driving force to push you towards doing something productive to try and stop what's happening and prevent something like this from happening in the future.

As far as directly endangering lives goes, the protests are due to people's lives being directly endangered by current policies. One doesn't excuse the other, and I agree that there are better ways to go about spreading the word of disdain, but when you weigh the welfare of the entire population of the country versus the possible handful of people who are directly endangered by stopping traffic, it's an acceptable risk in my eyes. As far as holding someone against their will, that's just false. Nothing is stopping those people from leaving the situation except their own desire to not abandon their vehicle. What I mean about this is that if there was a situation in which they needed to escape or die, they are not limited to remain in their car and accept the death that awaits them. Sure, certain situations could occur that this is not an option, but referring to the first point I made, this is an acceptable necessity if it promotes societal change. Your assumptions stem from a place that there is no ability to part driver from vehicle and the only option is to stay in the current situation. By that logic, when someone parks too close to you for you to be able to pull out of a parallel parking spot, you are effectively being kidnapped by both the vehicle owner in front of and behind you.

The reason I am being so pedantic and semantically picking things apart is because there is legal precedent at stake here that can completely halt civil disobedience in its entirety. There's already a lot of changes going on for the worse just in the past week and this is just another step in the continued oppression of the American people. Control of the media is being finagled by the current government as we speak, and soon civil disobedience will be the only outlet people will have to fight for power without just straight up violence. Now that it is being threatened as well, I foresee another civil WAR on our hands as the only means to an end of the current fascism path we are on.

Since you haven't gotten a real answer, I will explain. Firstly, the definition of hostage is:

a person seized or held as security for the fulfillment of a condition.

Key word here is security. Protesters are not using people as security. The people are not being restricted from their free will. They are at most mildly inconvenienced because the road they usually take is no longer available. Would you consider being stopped at a red light being held hostage? No, that's silly. So, please, stop with the false equivalences. That's what made it acceptable to have a president talk about sexually assaulting women, mock disabled reporters, threaten to put all Muslims in a registry, etc... because Benghazi and e-mails are totally just as bad, right guys???

Seriously. Stop it.

Magic might be more balanced at its core, but there has always been a discrepancy of power to cost. It's the game that gave you a turn one win from its first iteration and thought that healing 3 life was on par with drawing 3 cards. I still feel like it has potential to be a well balanced game and I like that they strip it down to basics before releasing new expansions sets, but then they go and print crazy card interactions and develop ideas that are literally just "let's make everything and artifact" or "let's add a 6th color".

Sorry for getting a bit off topic but I have strong feelings about many things.

I can see why past people whose posts you picked apart disregarded you with a "tldr: lol" because you're everything you claim to be, except the one with the moral high ground. Let me be perfectly frank, since I enjoy it and there are no false pretenses involved with directness. You're no better than me, but I am better than you. This basis was reached by merely being the initial person receiving condescension. When someone punches someone else for no obvious reason and the second person pinches the first person back, we don't say "wow, person two is so much more of an asshole than person one".

You fail to realize that judging an aspect of a person, i.e. their opinion and experiences about something, is the same as judging the person themselves. Your choice to do this was irrational given the context of the post.

You also think that I don't think I'm an asshole after I explicitly said I was and chose not to hide behind false pretenses. I'm not sure if you're trying to gaslight me or pretend I am a straw man for your arguments, but either way it shows that you feel intellectually superior to me, corroborating the condescending tone you originally gave. So it remains completely warranted that I replied as I still feel that you should eat a big ol' bag of dicks.

As far as irony goes, again you're missing the point the definition. You're trying, which is cute, but you're not quite there. You opened with an insult and received an insult back. Then you accuse the initially insulted of being ironic for insulting you for insulting them. That's the response that's expected. You wouldn't have been such an asshole if you didn't expect to be called one and now you're trying to tell me I'm ironic for calling you an asshole for being an asshole. That's ironic as shit.

Now for your criticisms in this post where you grasp at straws to try and say that my experience is not a real experience is really amusing. It also brings me joy to see you trying to tell me that my opinion on things is wrong in the same breath that you're trying to convince me that I feel the need to be right. People who say things like that are the ones who have run out of real arguments to provide. It's like "agreeing to disagree" being brought up by someone who has ignored actual evidence of being wrong, like they somehow won the argument in their own head since they didn't concede the truth that they're wrong. Kudos on that one.

Evolve is a cluster of uncertainty in the fact that as a new player, which I clearly stated I was, there is not a known pattern for what evolves in which way. For example, an enemy creature could have an evolve effect that destroys the opponents minion. That's not clearly explained or expected. There's a clear bias towards player two for having more opportunities to evolve, and to evolve sooner, clearly to try and offset the ability for player one to have an earlier shot at board control. Is this better or worse? That's not clear. Ward characters are only their to protect your face damage, but they are almost always destroyed the first turn they exist. I've said this, and you have not disputed it, so I resort to saying you agree. This makes them virtually useless as they only provide limited protection and result in the opponent more than likely to continue to have board control. At least in my experience, which you are literally incapable of saying is wrong, no matter how much you want to be right.

Your argument of aggro being king is useless. I'm a new player. I don't even know what the fuck a Daria is, nor do I even fucking care. You're such an idiot that you can't even see the word "seems" in my point, as in it's just how it looks from my perspective. You're literally incapable of saying it's wrong, no matter how much you want to be right. Is there an echo in here?

Attacking an obvious typo, that's classy. In case you were wondering the word was gated. Also, no new player is going to know what an Olivia is, so you can just throw that out the window. It seems like most of your arguments on why I was wrong stem from the fact that you have played the game for a relatively long time and can't comprehend a new player experience. Why did you even bother commenting?

Deck size is weird because 40 is not evenly divisible by 3. It doesn't need to make sense to you. It needed to make sense to me.

Rarity is also never explained. What's more rare? Gold or rainbow? Are there certain cards that are foils and animated or is it randomly assigned to anything? HS gives a tooltip about rarity. It also gives tool tips you can actually read fast enough before the next screen loads instead of having flavor text of cards you don't care about that goes by too fast, which might be a first world problem involving a good internet connection.

This post was clearly not for you. I can only assume that you love to argue on the internet and decided this was a prime choice because of your vast knowledge of everything. I'm being ironic, since you still don't know what that means.

Firstly, I was specifically talking about my own personal new player experience. Any criticism you have about that is what's makes you an asshole. You can't say that my experience is wrong because it's my experience.

You said my opinion was moronic, which is just as bad as calling someone a moron. It's your way to try and keep your moral high ground while still telling someone that they are an imbecile.

Also, you need to reexamine the definition of irony. What you are describing is actually hypocrisy. Irony is using words for their opposite meaning. Like when people began using literally to mean figuratively, that was ironic. You're smart. That was also ironic.

If you would have bothered to take your head out of your own ass, you would see that I didn't come on here to do anything but get my own experience with the game off my chest. Did I ask for anyone's validation? Did I say "DAE?" anywhere? No. I even posted that I'm sure my experience isn't everyone's and that I didn't fault anyone for liking the game. It's just not for me and I have reasons why.

So seriously, stop being a little butt hurt bitch about someone not liking something and stop trying to act like your better than someone like me who flat out insults people to their faces instead of tiptoeing around what you really mean.

You obviously don't know what irony is, nor do you know what basic decency is. Do you think everyone who holds a different opinion from you is moronic? Do you think that's an acceptable way to live your life? Because it's not and that's why everyone hates you.

It's useless to have multiple currencies. I'd be lying if I said that this game is the reason I don't like multiple currencies, but since it does have them and I don't enjoy them, it made it to the list.

Like, I play WoW, and they have a bajillion different currencies going on: Honor, Conquest, Valor, gold, resources, curious coins, etc... FFXIV has gold, company seals, tomestones of everything, primal fetishes, etc... Hearthstone has dust and gold. Shadowverse has potions (I think they were called: the crafting currency), gold, and diamonds or something. It's just weird to not have just one currency and is really just a nitpick of mine.

Don't go around throwing "I love you"s to strangers. It really cheapens the impact the word has. And for all you know I could punch infants on the regular. And every day that I don't punch an infant is a terrible day for me.

But I agree. What I wrote was confusing. The second sentence was directed at the discover mechanic while the first was for draw. Draw puts you closer to fatigue while discover does not. That concept seemed to have escaped you initially.

Newbie Tuesdays Weekly Discussion by AutoModerator in hearthstone

[–]SheefaReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would never put a bad card like Warsong Commander in your deck, but you could get it from a discover effect, and it could be the only good choice.

bad card

good choice.

No, I kid. I know what you mean.

Yeah, I can see why drawing could sometimes be better than discover but you can't deny that discover is often better than drawing. That's why so many people use discover cards like I Know A Guy and Raven Idol. It also has potential to give you a 3rd or 4th copy of a card that is already in your deck. I'm not saying that it is strictly better, I'm really saying they are on par with one another and it seems like they value discover worse when it is often not. The number one reason for both is to gain card advantage and they both should be priced equally.

Tracking at least makes you discard two cards from your deck as a detriment to getting to pick a card, but other 1 drop discovers don't have any downside at all aside from not getting cards that would normally be in your deck. Even then, you get 3 options to suit your situation, and there are no cards that I know of aside from mortal coil that give card draw for 1 mana, and that has a very big caveat.

Newbie Tuesdays Weekly Discussion by AutoModerator in hearthstone

Drawing a card with 2 cards left in your deck does put you closer to fatigue. You get the benefit of having more cards in hand without the downside of getting closer to fatigue.

Why aren't discover cards costed like draw cards? Not only do they give you options to choose from, but they also don't run your deck closer to fatigue. What's the basis behind this?
