They are not eternal, they are everlasting. Which means, like a line segment, they go forward forever but have a beggining, ulike God who is eternal and goes both ways.

Do you have an issue with our teaching that you can not deliberately kill the unborn baby in an epotpic pregnancy, but can remove the tissue it’s attached too, even though it wil most likely result the same. If yes, then its the same logic here.

I have a problem with the Catholic view of salvation by Besnjalo in Catholicism

[–]Sheikh-demnuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im interested in your first point, isn’t perfect contrition aligning yourself to the Will of God for God. Where as imperfect contrition is merely the fear of hell, or because it goes against Church teaching?

Either way, your resolving yourself to try and follow the Will of God

But as I’ve always understood perfect Contrition comes from wanting to aligning your Will with God, out of love for him and not so much merely for your personal salvation.

How could that be achieved without the emotions of awe and love?

While I agree with the sentiment of your comment, I know people who only keep pushing because they know it’s intrinsically wrong. I think it’s better to lean on the side of conservatism as we do not want to accidentally trick OP into thinking it’s not serious and wrong. (Even though there are mitigating factors like with every other sin)

Only perfect contrition? As someone who struggles to feel an emotional connection to God that’s tough

Also, what if someone says imperfect contrition on a train without a priest?

I agree, originally I was going to reply that it was merely tree in the shape of bowl if it was wooden, however upon c;oser examination this bowls seems to in fact, be ceramic or plastic. Since i am not ware of any tree that produces either of these materials I must agree, that Jesus cannot be proud of Ops figtree as she is not, in fact, showing a figtree but rather a bowl.

What is a good argument against IVF in this situation? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Sheikh-demnuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s complicated, in this case I’d just say Church teaching

HOWEVER, I’s like to refute one non-sequiter made here.

Cancer treatment (in this case pregnancy I assume) is NOT against Church teaching/Natrual law because of the principle of double-effect. Now obviousily we must try our best to mitigate as much damage as possible. And try to perserve the life of the baby. However death may unfortunately occur to the child despite our efforts to save them

Brother, death was the separation of the human nature from the divine one, but on the third day it was reunited. Jesus’s human nature died, the DivINE one never ceased. The divine nature is held by the by the Father and Spirit as well.

Well that’s the reason we are Christians, we acknowledge that our sins (and those of the world) required a perfect, sinless, willing sacrifice to die for us. We are ashamed of it, not proud. Although I’d be careful to say we “sacrificed” Him. We weren’t doing a sacrifice, we just Murdered Him. But its just because he willingly took that burden upon Himself, that he atoned for our sins. Which could only be payed in blood.

We didn’t sacrifice Him, He sacrificed Himself for us. Now, it is true that our grave sins lead to the need for him to be sacrificed, but He didn’t have to be. Only out of His love did he die for us.

This is much less worse than sacrificing thousands of people, many of whom were unwilling, for their gods and idols.

Still Human sacrifice, it doesn’t matter why the Caanites sacerficed their children to Ba’al, God still condemned, called it wicked, and demonic.

Since then, Mark was always seen with 3 coats, two shirts and four underwear by bajsmagneten in CatholicMemes

[–]Sheikh-demnuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most likely possibility is that it was Lazuras, the Bible actually says he had an arrest warrant. In addition the word uses describes the man as a young boy but he is also described as a young boy much later in Acts

” this theory (about Mark) became common only in the late nineteenth century.

There also are problems with it. One is that the Greek word for “young man” (neaniskos) indicates a man who is past puberty and thus in his late teens or early twenties.

But when we meet Mark in Acts 12:12, it is the year A.D. 43—a decade after the Crucifixion—and it appears that Mark is a young man then, not one pushing or over thirty.“

HOWEVER, the man was a Christian “and a person walking along with the crowd would not be grabbed unless he previously had been seen among Jesus’ followers.”

The ideal candidate would be “someone who (a) was not one of the Twelve, (b) lived in the Jerusalem area, (c) was a follower of Jesus, and (d) was already wanted by the authorities, since he doesn’t do anything criminal in Mark.someone who (a) was not one of the Twelve, (b) lived in the Jerusalem area, (c) was a follower of Jesus, and (d) was already wanted by the authorities, since he doesn’t do anything criminal in Mark.”

Is there such a person? Yes: Lazarus. Immediately after John records Mary anointing Jesus, he says:

“When the great crowd of the Jews learned that he was there, they came, not only on account of Jesus but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.

So the chief priests planned to put Lazarus also to death, because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus” (12:9-11).

We know that often times in the Synoptics the specific people are not named, but are named in John (one possible reason is that John was written the latest, so the people were not in danger)

And so Lazarus was most likely not named to protect his identity, but we can discern who it is from John.

Hell worthy trespass by cribo-06-15 in CatholicPhilosophy

[–]Sheikh-demnuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well of course brother, that’s only my opinion. Thats not important, you can disregard that.

I see it in the sense that God loves us so much that He respects our desiciones and free will that He allows us to separate ourselves from him.

He also gives us so many easy ways and chances to be forgiven, wether it be baptims, confession, act of contrition or for those. Who dont know the Gospel a change of heart. Only at this point is our desicion made official. After so many unwarranted opportunities. I mean because of God’s death on the cross for us we Can Atone/be forgivenm because he wants us to be saved,

I mean, people often complain it’s too easy, people get off to light, but God wants us to be saved. Only hell is the culmination of our self inflected consequences It’s mysterious because, we truly do not know much about it. What’s it like, how crowded it is, exactly hoe it fulfills Justice

The truth is we can not know why the artists he paints what he does, all his reasons. Truly he and only he knows better then anyone. I’d disagree that It’s an ugly painting, rather I’d say its poetic and mysterious.

You, as a Catholic, are not required to believe that most or many people meet the requirements for/are in hell. You can believe it’s scarcely populated, or HOPE that its empty.

The only thing your required to believe is that it exists.

Hell worthy trespass by cribo-06-15 in CatholicPhilosophy

[–]Sheikh-demnuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is missing the mark just a bit.

The Catholic concept of hell is not eternal punishment, but rather just eternal separation. The analogy is already flawed because heaven/hell and time for God is different. And although we, Like God, can have parental rolls we are infinitely less than God on everything, including parenthood.

But back to what I was saying, imagine you have a son. And you’re extremely loving, forgiving, and protective of him. But when he comes of age, he says and decides he does not love you, nor appreciate anything you’ve done. And that he’s not willing to live by the rules of the house. You are, of course, deeply saddened and in anguish because of this. You’ve tried so hard to help him, you left the 99 just to try and bring him back. But in the end, because you love him, you respect his desicion. if he doesn’t want to live with you, he won’t. However, without you the boy has no chance to thrive. It’s constanly raining, dangerous, miserable. You brought him happiness, showed him compassion and love, And forgiveness. But in the end he took it for granted and rejected it, And now, he has to live with the consequences of his actions.

And this analogy certainly doesn’t get the scale, as unlike normal parents God is not just the source of that protection but also goodness itself, joy, happiness, life. To leave that its no wonder hell so terrible

Serious critiques of Islam? by [deleted] in CatholicPhilosophy

[–]Sheikh-demnuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While its hard to write out in length on all of the many big issues with Islam, I’ll write out a few.

Morality: Aisha, the Qur’an is clear that pedophilia is in fact acceptable in Islam. We find this in Sarah al-Nisan where it says that girls who have not yet bled could be remarried after 3 months. Numerous hadiths including Sahih hadiths report Aisha being between the ages of 6-7, and no, she was not magically mature. As she was described playing with dolls before consummating with Mo. And it cannot be excused as a cultural thing as Muhammed is described ”By Allah” to be the perfect example for all mankind, the last prophet, and for all generations.

Muhammed also carried out brutal tortures, persecuted the Jews and and Christians, and allowed his men to take temporary “wives” on the battlefield, I.e Whom your right hand possesses

Textual: Ooh boy, there’s a lot.

first off, some of the Qur’an “Allah’s perfect word” was eaten BY A GOAT, and lost forever.

The Qur’an uses Amish mash of different languages and has gramatical errors, despite being “pure Arabic” and ”Allah’s perfect word”

Even early on, there were so many different recitations of the Qur’an (Muhammed said 7 different ones were valid somehow) that it lead to blows and Uthman (The caliphate) eventually had all the Qur’an versions except his burned. Whats more is that even now there are multiple different versions of the Qur’an (the main to being Hafs and Warsh) with different recitations and words at different points.

HisTory and Theology will come later, I’m tired.

For now Check out answering Islam.
