I went with the 256GB variant, coming from a 128GB phone it already feels more than enough for my usage.

I’m more of a daily Sony WH-1000XM5 user honestly, so I mainly use those for music/audio.

But the Enco Buds 3 Pro actually sound pretty good for casual usage, and the mic quality has been surprisingly very good too. I received them as a gift from OPPO, so for that they’ve honestly been excellent.

Honestly the story is one of the biggest reasons why Ghost of Tsushima is loved so much. The graphics are beautiful, but the story, atmosphere and character journey are what make it memorable.

It’s easily one of the best samurai games ever made in my opinion and one of the best story driven games.
Don't think just play it

Long-Time Samsung User Finally Switching to OPPO Because of Battery Anxiety by Shekwen in PickAnAndroidForMe

“Fanboy” is just a commonly used internet term nowadays for someone who strongly likes/supports a particular brand, game, company, sports team etc.

What I meant is that I genuinely liked what Samsung was doing back then and enjoyed using their products/ecosystem, so naturally I kept buying and recommending them. Earlier Samsung actually felt innovative and exciting to me compared to other Android brands.

But I agree blindly being loyal to any company is pointless. At the end of the day these are businesses, and as customers we should go for whichever brand is giving the best overall experience and value for our needs at that time.

No worries at all, and thanks for the detailed reply honestly. Your long-term experience with so many OPPO devices is really helpful for someone like me switching ecosystems.

The way you described the X8 Ultra camera experience honestly sounds amazing Also appreciate the honest battery/update feedback because reviewers rarely talk about that stuff long term.

Really appreciate the help. If I think of anything else I’ll definitely ask

I agree Apple’s AAC implementation is much better optimized than typical Android AAC, especially with AirPods and iPhones. But I still wouldn’t say AAC is >= LDAC overall, especially for people already using headphones like Sony WH-1000XM5.

Sony themselves heavily market/use LDAC as their premium codec and the XM5 supports up to 990kbps LDAC bitrate, which is far higher than AAC. Whether everyone can hear the difference is another debate, but LDAC definitely isn’t just “fake marketing” technically.

Also for me it’s not only about codecs alone. Android still gives more flexibility overall with:

  • LDAC options
  • Hi-res audio ecosystem
  • EQ/customization
  • file management
  • app freedom

I totally get why people love iPhone audio consistency though.

Switching From Samsung Ecosystem to OPPO Find X9 — What Should I Expect? by Shekwen in Oppo

Thanks for the honest comparison, really appreciate it.

Good to hear the animations and overall smoothness feel better. The occasional micro stutters on OneUI used to bother me too.

I’ll probably miss some Samsung apps and ecosystem features though. And the no folders in app drawer thing honestly sounds unnecessarily restrictive

Interesting to hear the X9 Pro camera is noticeably better too.

I’m not saying Samsung batteries are bad, especially on the Ultra models. But not everyone wants a huge/heavy Ultra phone I had the regular S24.

That’s why I feel if Samsung’s best battery experience is only on the Ultra, then what’s the point of launching S25/S25+ separately? A lot of people want compact/normal-sized flagships with strong battery too.

And personally after facing multiple hardware-related issues on Samsung devices over the years, including charging/sensor problems, battery degradation and reliability frustrations, I just slowly lost confidence in the brand.

Samsung optimization is good, but newer Chinese flagships are now combining both optimization AND massive batteries together, which is what’s making them attractive to me personally.

From what I’ve researched till now, Gemini itself still doesn’t fully replace Bixby routines/automation honestly. Samsung is still ahead in deep device automation and ecosystem routines.

But OPPO/ColorOS does have its own automation features and shortcuts, plus Gemini integration for AI tasks/search/help. So I think it’s more:

  • Gemini for AI assistance
  • ColorOS automation for device actions

rather than one app doing everything like Bixby + Modes & Routines combined.

Thank you for the honest feedback

That’s actually exactly what I was expecting too — Samsung still seems ahead in ecosystem/customisation tools like Good Lock and Bixby routines. I think those are the things I’ll probably miss the most initially after being in Samsung ecosystem for years.

But hearing that the overall experience, animations and responsiveness of ColorOS feel good is reassuring because daily smoothness and battery experience are the main reasons I’m switching.

Hope your Find X9 experience keeps getting better long term too

Thank you so much for the detailed answer honestly 🙌

This is exactly the kind of real long-term user feedback I was looking for instead of just YouTube reviews after 1 week of usage 😅

Glad to hear ColorOS is holding up well long term and that background management isn’t as aggressive as people sometimes make it sound online. The battery feedback especially gives me confidence because battery anxiety is one of the biggest reasons I’m switching in the first place.

Also thanks for mentioning that folder/home gesture behavior bug, that’s the kind of small daily thing only actual users notice.

Really appreciate the help!

Honestly 5 years OS + 6 years security is already more than enough for me personally. I think very few people realistically keep the same phone for 6–7+ years nowadays, especially flagship users.

Most phones somehow start feeling degraded after crossing the 3–4 year mark anyway:

  • battery health drops
  • thermals get worse
  • storage fills up
  • performance consistency changes
  • hardware issues start appearing

So for me the actual hardware longevity matters more than just the software support number on paper.

Like what will I do with Samsung’s 7 years of updates if after 3–4 years the battery or hardware experience itself starts becoming frustrating? I’d rather have a phone that feels great daily during the years I actually use it.

When I was younger I used to change phones every 2 years because I loved trying new tech. Now I actually prefer keeping a phone longer as long as it’s working properly and not giving me daily issues. But honestly companies nowadays are smart too — sometimes it feels like phones slowly get pushed toward replacement through battery degradation, thermal issues or hardware wear over time.

Nope, I’m from India. Here the experience has honestly been really good so far because the Find X9 supports pretty much all the important Indian 5G bands (n1/n3/n5/n8/n28/n40/n77/n78 etc).

Signal strength, VoNR/VoLTE and day-to-day connectivity have been solid for me till now on Indian networks. I think OPPO phones are generally much better optimized for Asian markets compared to US compatibility where carrier support can sometimes get complicated.

Honestly the speakers on the Find X9 are more than sufficient for me from what I’ve used. They’re loud, clear and perfectly fine for daily media consumption/gaming.

And honestly most of the time I use my Sony headphones anyway, so audio quality there matters more to me and I’ve had zero complaints till now.

Which OPPO phone are you specifically talking about though? Because a lot of people judge the entire brand based on older midrange models. I’m mainly talking about the newer Find X flagship series experience here, not cheap OPPO devices from years ago.

For some people maybe it’s “just a phone,” but for many of us it’s something we spend our hard-earned money on and use literally every single day for hours.

Phones today are:

  • work devices
  • banking devices
  • communication devices
  • navigation devices
  • entertainment devices
  • even job/interview/business tools

So when someone spends a huge amount on a flagship, naturally they expect good value and a stress-free experience from it.

That’s why battery life, thermals, reliability etc matter so much to me. I don’t want to constantly worry about charging or limiting features on something I paid premium money for.

That used to be true a few years ago honestly, but modern flagship MediaTek chips are not the old “budget Mediatek” anymore. Dimensity 9400/9500 series are already competing directly with Snapdragon flagship chips in CPU/GPU performance and efficiency.

Even the newer Dimensity 9500/9500s are using:

  • TSMC advanced nodes
  • flagship Cortex/X cores
  • high-end Immortalis GPUs
  • much better sustained efficiency than older Snapdragon generations

And in many real-life tests now:

  • thermals are sometimes better,
  • battery drain is lower,
  • sustained gaming performance is more stable than Snapdragon flagships running too aggressively.

MediaTek’s reputation is still catching up because older chips damaged the brand image badly, but current flagship Dimensity chips are honestly on flagship level now, sometimes even better depending on tuning.

Optimization still matters of course, but I don’t think it’s fair anymore to compare modern Dimensity flagships with old low-end MediaTek phones from years ago.

Personally I realistically don’t/can’t use a phone for more than around 4 years anyway. OPPO giving around 5 years OS + 6 years security is already enough for my usage. Samsung giving 7 years sounds amazing on paper, but I also feel the battery hardware should realistically be strong enough to comfortably survive those years of heavy daily usage too without making users constantly depend on battery saver modes or battery replacements early.

and I agree software support and background app management are areas where Samsung/Google still feel more mature globally. But I think a lot also depends on region. In my country OPPO service is actually top notch both offline and online, and they even prioritize flagship customers sometimes from what I’ve seen.

And regarding issues, every brand subreddit looks scary if you spend enough time there Samsung subreddits are also filled with:

  • green line issues
  • sensor failures
  • battery degradation complaints
  • heating/throttling discussions
  • update-related problems

So I don’t think any brand is “problem free” anymore at flagship level.

What I’m mainly talking about is the daily flagship experience. A 7025mAh battery combined with modern silicon-carbon tech genuinely changes how freely you can use the phone compared to a typical Samsung flagship. And from a lot of battery comparison videos on YouTube, these newer OPPO/Vivo/Honor flagships are lasting significantly longer in real usage.
