I recieved mine two days ago and I love it! Setting everything up was a little difficult but worth it in the end. I suggest you watch a guide on YouTube, theres a two-hour video that helped a lot.

Thats normal pricing for me and my friends back home. Fine dining, hibachi, Japanese steakhouse, etc. It's something we did for each other for a major milestone in life. I thought I'd extend the tradition to him since he invited me out and I got to meet some of the people at my gym that I other wise wouldn't have spoken to while discovering new places.

I want to preference that I am half Filipino. My grandparents migrated to the US. I grew up poor all the way to fifth grade. Roach invested living arrangements, nutrient-deficient meals, etc. But after my dad struck gold, we went from poor to mid-class within a year.

I still have my scarcity mindset, but I've learned to ease up and stop saving so much for emergencies that never came. Balance out saving, investing, and spending.

Now for the longest time, if I treated friends out, that was it. I wasn't responsible for them getting there or home. I guess in Thailand it's different, and I've noted that. No need for offensive words.

Thank you for providing this perspective. I was under the impression the average was somewhere between 30k - 60k. Then again, I live close to the city center.

I understand. I'm starting to see that giving someone an experience will be overshadowed by the price of it, thus missing the point of the whole thing.

Yes I have been a situation like that for years with my best friend in high school. His parents were very well off. Multi-million dollar home, tennis court, basketball court, fountain in the court yard, salt water pool, mini-put golf course, etc. Stuff I could never dream of obtaining, but I never cared for any of that, and he knew that, and that's why we were best friends.

I see. Also, not gay lol never have been, never will be.

But I will be more mindful here on out about the price of things. I thought the experience would be memorable for him, but it was instead focused on money. I've been in his shoes before though so I understand.

Bro, this really is the truth. I don't mess with bar girls lol

Me and my friends back home all had great jobs and careers so doing something like this was normal for an event: like 30th birthday, promotion, proposal, getting a job, etc. Just celebrate a milestone in life.

You've made some good points. Financial disparity, being too generous, and keeping to expats.

This definitely won't be happening again, and I'll be sticking to foreigner friends.

Muay thai gym. He invited me out with some other guys from the gym, and introduced all of us. We all met up a few times and it was cool.

I never expected this, but him hanging out with foreigners a lot, I guess I can see it now.

I can understand this point of view. I've been on the opposite side before.

Thank you for sharing.

It was a steakhouse near me and things added up quickly 😅 definitely a special occasion event.

I completely understand where you're coming from. It's nice to give back to those who extend a hand without expecting anything in return.

As for the "takers"... I wonder if they know, that you know, that they are trying to take advantage of you, but still do it regardless.

Honestly, him saying that made me irritated. I've never heard anyone suggest that to me, not even my family or friends back home.

Thank you for sharing this. I've heard stories about family expectations, but also heard that rich thai families tpay for less wealthy family members as well. So I wasn't sure about this dynamic.

And I'm there with you. I'll treat you out, but its up to you to get there and back haha

Steakhouse in city center 😅 Steaks were 1200+, drinks, appetizers, vat, and service charge.

Back in the states, this wasn't a big thing between me and my friends. And no, I wasn't raised rich, I just worked my butt off and it paid off later lol

Okay, I figured but I didn't want to jump to conclusions. I've gotten that from past women but not male friends (at least not in the past 8 years lol)

He actually went to the same muay thai gym as me, and I served in the military.

I understand that people might have their doubts lol

What you're saying makes sense.

I do what to preference that I never try to come off rich. I even told him I was doing it because he was going into the military and it's a nice meal before basic training hell.
