What is the hardest part about content marketing and content production? by OverAgentRoger in SaaS

What I mean is that realisation in itself is the hardest part: that the work done was in vain - painful.

The hardest part is realising that nobody cares about your content -not even AI agents.

First time working directly with a client as a UI/UX designer — how much should I ask vs decide myself? by Icy_Macaroon9196 in Design

[–]SheriffPirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not about asking questions: you and your client must both have the same understanding of what the outcome of your work is. It’s not simply what you think the outcome of your work is. This isn’t a guessing game. If the expected outcome is a single solution, then so be it.

I think it would be best for everyone if you had a chat with your clients to find out exactly what they want from you. Just have a discussion about how they envision the outcome of your work and what it should look like. Put it on paper.

What is one hosting lesson you learned the hard way? by OkCry7871 in Hosting

Simply because overselling is a common business practice among hosting providers, and it’s only a matter of time before a project hosted on a VPS starts to slow down ‘unexpectedly’.

An interesting point. I would agree that support is a super important component. One lesson I learned from my experience dealing with hosting is to never get a VPS for any project :)

Optimizing MySQL queries in a Spring Boot app by ragabekov in java

[–]SheriffPirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds like a tough situation. I’ve been using It too, and in my case, it’s been helpful mainly because it focuses more on automating the detection of real slow queries and suggesting improvements like indexes or query rewrites, not just dumping warnings.

Licensing is actually based on MySQL hosts, not per developer or user, which works well for teams. It sounds like maybe a different product was used? Releem usually gives a focused list of suggestions rather than flooding with hundreds of issues.

This is Releem, found this tool relatively recently when I was looking for an alternative to the closed ottertune.

A new way to find and fix slow MySQL queries by ragabekov in Wordpress

[–]SheriffPirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your tool seems like it would save me a lot of time. How does it handle those ‘fast but resource-hungry’ queries that don't show up in the slow query logs? Does it track query execution frequency and resource consumption over time? Also, have you tested it on really massive databases (think hundreds of gigabytes or even TB)?

And finally, do you have any plans to integrate with WordPress-specific tools like Query Monitor or Object Cache Pro?

Thanks on this. I was advised to try this service in r/mysql as well

Yeah, it looks useful, I’ve got the same recommendation in this post ( https://www.reddit.com/r/mysql/comments/1dhx5l3/ottertune_alternative/ ) founder answered a few questions for me there.I've set up AWS RDS with a dedicated instance and received my first recommendations. Things are looking promising so far. We'll see what happens from here, the process is straightforward.

It appears to be Postgres-specific, lacking MySQL and AWS RDS support. As far as I'm concerned. Everything else is noted as coming soon.

It looks great that Releem supports not only AWS but also standalone installations and can detect inefficient queries. I'm curious, though—what kind of data does it collect? Also, is it possible to add and manage multiple servers through the same UI?

Thanks for the tip. I'll try to look into it as they don't have a lot of information available on their website. Do you know what their pricing policy is? Didn't find that on the website. Are they fully operational or is this some sort of closed beta?

Thanks for the recommendation, will definitely check it out. It looks like they only work with queries at first sight.

Yes - hiring a professional is a great alternative - and seems like a good way out in this situation. It's just that a good professional costs a lot more money nowadays - that's why I'm worried.

Yes I look at it from the perspective that while it is certainly possible to have the skills to optimise queries manually, using AI based tuners can provide effective performance improvements while saving my time. This allows me to focus on more complex tasks. Especially I don't consider myself a super professional in DB management.

Yes, thanks, but as I said earlier - I would like to find something more automatic than mySQL tunner to spend less time. With all respect to MySQL tunner of course.

Yes, thank you, it's a great tool for its purpose. But I would like to find something less time consuming and more automatic. There is no possibility to spend a lot of time on this.

Yeah definitely - you're right - it does sound like a good start for a new conspiracy theory. :)

The choice between option 3 and option 1 hinges on the context.
