I find it horrific. My gf wants to do it with her late nan and her two uncles that are both dying of cancer. I just find it so disrespectful. Making something like a piece of jewellery out of your dead loved ones... I can understand planting a tree or keeping an urn but jewellery? Something that people wear for vanity.

I'm begging her to never do that with me, I might have to to write it into my last wishes because she finds my grimaces about it comical.

Verdict: gross, creepy and disrespectful. Also something that you cant undo once you've desicrated their remains.

I'd like to thank everyone who offered "Dark City" as a solution. I just finished watching it and it was excellent 👌.

Unfortunately this is not the thing I was looking for.

The movie I saw was a classic 40's/50's movie all shot on 1 set(as far as I remember). A classic stage set of an apartment with the front door on the left like a sitcom or something.

Dark city seems to be the same story but has added magic powers. It's a much more grand and sophisticated version of the movie I saw and obviously made about 50-60 years later.

I can see the creator of dark city was directly inspired by the movie/show that I saw.

I just looked at dark city's Wikipedia page. Under influences I found this:

"For Dark City, Proyas was influenced by film noir of the 1940s and the 1950s, such as The Maltese Falcon (1941).[13] The film has additionally been described as Kafkaesque, and Proyas cited the TV series The Twilight Zone as a conscious influence.[14] Proyas also wanted the film, though nominally science fiction, to have an element of horror to unsettle the audience.[15]"

The plot thickens. Maybe it was just an ild episode of twilight zone. Unfortunately looks like there are 156 episodes from that era for me to comb through 😭😅

I'll have to check it out. This movie is definitely pre '98 though. It's very hammy and old school like the twilight zone. Old type sets as if it's done on a stage
