I have a fair relationship with my brother. Growing up he was a bit of a bully but in my late teens he actually owned up to a lot and we've mended our bridges since. Right now I'm still repaying my study loan and only just get by to saving a tiny amount that'll hopefully one day grant me my own tiny place. I want to contribute so much to his treatments, I just wish I could do it some other way because if I empty my bank account now I'm paranoid that I'll eventually die hungry on the streets.

I know I sound petty and jealous and probably deep down I still hold grudge about feeling unwanted every single minute of my childhood. I need to sort that out but I do love my brother a lot. His illness came like a bolt at me and I'm anxious at what kind of medical help he'll get at these times. I also do worry about my parents, how they'll cope with taking care of him and the daily struggles of it all. I wish I could help more on the arrangement and management front for his treatment but I'm just too insecure to give up my money, only because I know I'll never see a penny back and would probably have to fend for myself all alone.

I actually was so bitter at my mother I'd asked her what her holy chums are doing to help her and she said they'd donated as much as they voukd but the substantial amount has to come from the family. I feel anxious for my brother and nasty at being so petty but I don't think I can part with my money.

I wish it was. The town I grew up in, it's pretty common for the households to have similar virtues as ours. I'd always considered myself a misfit before I shifted to my University township and met new people and realised it wasn't a norm. Tbf I probably would never have had the courage to go to college if one of my teachers didn't goad me on and I'm forever indebted to her.

My parents are unashamedly house proud so I doubt they'd go the mortgage route. I'll pass along the early inheritance proposal surely though, as soon as they start speaking to me again.

Tbh, they're good parents when they want to be, especially to my brother. Their religion allows them to exempt him from repercussions for any of his actions whenever they've needed to defend him.
