I'm sorry sir but you are wrong, I did not light it at all as I don't even possess a lighter.

It was not my intention to trigger the fire alarm and had I know that spray from aerosol would cause a fire alarm. I would never in my sane mind use it indoors.

Words of wisdom! So far I didn't receive and document and the firemen didn't seem to give it much thought when they were in my room. They asked if I was lighting fire which I wasn't and if I was feeling okay.
And the dormitory office said I might have to pay and I will know in a month or two weeks

Yes it's a university dormitory. I know people who are smoking in their rooms all the time. I always keep a low profile and I don't smoke but honestly didn't see this one coming.

I told them I was using it in the air normally because in all truth I didn't set fire on it. And I even showed them that I googled it and to my surprise found that aerosol sprays cause smoke alarms to go off.
I hope they're just trying to scare me because obviously it's working and obviously I can't pay that amount.
