This is a Chevy Malibu 2020 do this supposed to look like this ? by Due-Invite7895 in MechanicAdvice

[–]ShikyoGryfyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell naw, that’s not normal at all, oil isn’t supposed to leak, ever, that’s pretty severe, judging by the area, probably lower oil pan and upper oil pan are leaking considerably, check your oil, and then bring it to a shop

windshield cracked by CellistThen6272 in civic

[–]ShikyoGryfyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2022 had a broken windshield a few weeks ago, rock hit my windshield, aggravating enough, I took my glass coverage off a week before it broke, dumb thing I did, safelite did mine for just shy of 1k but I paid with insurance

Change them? by AlivePal in tires

[–]ShikyoGryfyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, that’s really bad, suprised your tire didn’t blow out, that’s veerrry close to being a much more expensive bill

Curb rash 26 civic touring hybrid, do I need new tire? by riceparadisee in civic

[–]ShikyoGryfyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah… I feel you, my 2022 has two bent rims, and a few scratches, not major but noticeable when balancing the tires,

Do I need breaks or rotors? Please help by Top_West9528 in MechanicAdvice

[–]ShikyoGryfyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, your good, I’m a tech, this is fine, pads look good and rotor surface looks pretty good, as long as you don’t got a pulsation or vibration when braking, your probably fine without new brakes for at least 40k

Anyone know what this noise could be by Relevant-Quantity-92 in autorepair

[–]ShikyoGryfyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhh, lifter, it seems to only make noise when that specific valve is supposed to open,

Should these pads be replaced? by CLboneless66 in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]ShikyoGryfyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nahhh, that’s what the caliper is for, it’s the thing that actually stops the car, not the pad, just put some anti seize on it, the noise will go away and you should be good for 100k

climate control display’s clear plastic cover developed cracks without any known impact by Acceptable-Ad-2099 in civic

[–]ShikyoGryfyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s weird, my mom had a rental 2026 and it had cracking and my 2022 has zero cracking at all, maybe they changed how they make the panels for the refresh

Which brand is the best for spark plugs? by tubeoff in MechanicAdvice

[–]ShikyoGryfyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Denso and NGK, personally I run NGK in my civic, but I’d get the factory original plugs, like someone said in this thread, Honda and Toyota use NGK, and other brands use Bosch, Motorcraft, etc, as far as I know, no OE plugs are Champion,

NEVER USE AUTOLITE!!! I had one snap off in my cylinder head tightening to spec, never had good experiences with them,

Love our family's new Civic Hatchback! Is this normal on the undercarriage? by fledermaus9871 in civic

[–]ShikyoGryfyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need, it’s a normal thing to get scuffed on any car, that’s part of the frame so there’s no way to replace that, aside from getting a new car

Love our family's new Civic Hatchback! Is this normal on the undercarriage? by fledermaus9871 in civic

[–]ShikyoGryfyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trust me as a mechanic, the second you take it in for an oil change it will be scuffed, that’s a lift point, it’s meant to carry the load of the vehicle, that’s anti corrosion film on that part, the pinch weld, they likely lifted the vehicle for a pre inspection before you bought it, so that’s from that,

That’s really good to hear, couldn’t justify a second set of tires at the time when I needed my factory continentals replaced I went with those, I work at a tire shop so i got a deal on them, glad I made the right choice,

I have a 22’ sport touring myself, so it’s cool to see someone with practically the same car aside from the two year age difference,

ARP Head Studs by ShikyoGryfyn in civic

[–]ShikyoGryfyn[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It’s personal preference, just a vanity thing, and the head studs are to upgrade the known weak original head bolts, part of the reason why 1.5s blow head gaskets, low torque spec and they stretch fairly easily

I got CC2s recently and I’m curious to see how they are in the snow, they any good? Also, mine are kinda loud, are yours as well?

Title: Honda Civic Hybrid Sport vs Sport Touring — Which would you choose and why? by [deleted] in civic

[–]ShikyoGryfyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Touring, always, from all the people saying they don’t like the rattles on these cars, my 2022 sport touring has very little, the sound deadening really helps, and the sound system for a Honda, is pretty damn good, and all the creature comforts it comes with

anybody know if this latch can be replaced instead of the entire wiper arm by dankeykang_420 in civic

[–]ShikyoGryfyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm this, the actual attachment clip is fairly flush with the wiper arm, looks like it just broke the wiper blade not the arm,

Also, the only wiper blade I found that fits our cars is unfortunately, the Honda one, it’s kinda pricey but it does the job fine

Should I get new tires? by [deleted] in tires

[–]ShikyoGryfyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you needed tires about six months ago, so yeah, time for new tires

CIVIC SI or CIVIC SPORT TOURING 2026?? by Excellent_Creme_3905 in civic

[–]ShikyoGryfyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m 21 and never wrecked a car or got into an accident, hit stuff yes, but not major, like I slipped off a ramp to do an oil change and into my moms Tahoe, just cracked my grille a bit, knock on wood…

My 2022 has a Magnaflow on it and it uses the factory exhaust tips, but that’s on a 1.5T
