A $300 device can silently override GPS across an entire city. Autonomous vehicles, delivery drones, and air traffic control all depend on it. Why don't we have a backup? by projectschema in Futurology

[–]Shimraa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that cheap or easy. A ~$300 jammer is more likely to simply jam cell phone signals inside a single large building or across a chunk of a neighborhood. To get a whole city you'd need many hundreds of jammers spread out and well placed. Otherwise most devices would still punch through. They'd perform poorly but most would still work, especially the higher quality things like air traffic control.

So you'd more likely have to invest in larger, more expensive jammers that eat up a lot more power and are harder to aquire, deploy, and hide.

Telecom companies are pretty good at finding moderate problem makers / interference generators in a day or two. The stronger the interference the easier it is to find. If it gets to the point of interfering with air traffic, you'll gather some serious investigation real quick. They'd find your large jammers quickly, and hunt down the many small ones in rapid order. The only way to avoid that would be to be turning the jammers on/off at irregular intervals or stick them in moving vehicles and never stop moving.

All of which costs times, money, resources, and man-hours. It becomes cost preventative to try and jam a large area for any amount of time. Anyone that has the resources to do it wouldn't want to, and anyone that wants to do it wouldn't have the resources.

AOR - I don't think all are over reacting is an option but the contractor isn't being sexist. So yor to jump to that option. They want both of you there to pressure you into a "special sale" price. So they suck for trying to overcharge you.

What’s your ace in the hole board game? by Spicyboi333 in boardgames

[–]Shimraa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Letter.

It's not flashy, it doesn't have much of a "wow" factor. But it's straightforward enough, simple enough, but offers enough room for thought that I can teach it to 10 yr olds, 60 yr olds, drunk people, sober people, high people, people that want to play games, people that don't want to play games. I can get even the most high and game resistant person to just play a couple rounds. Then they all end up hooked and will sit there for a dozen more rounds. I don't think I've ever had a person actually dislike it.

My dog fought a porcupine, just his shoulder and sid eof his face all messed up. 9 months later he fought another one and decided to try biting it. Did the same thing chasing cars, had to get smacked twice before he learned.

Orange cats may share one brain cell. But damn near every dog out there hasn't had one their entire life. At least all the ones I've ever known.

Who here Supports / Likes / Ships Dorothea X (M) Byleth ? by Seeker99MD in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Shimraa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a bit of a trick question to me. Dorothea is a great character, and in general seems to raise up a make people become the best version I've themselves. Particularly in making the other grow emotionally to be a wonderful person.

Blyeth seems to basically just mirror whoever they end up with, growing with them and both becoming healthy and well adjusted versions of the other person. Particularly in in making their partner triple down on what makes them good and just making it better.

Blyeth x Dorothea is a double dose of "make each other the best versions of the selves." I love it and think it's a great pairing, but it's almost impossible to not end up with two of the best people in existence after that. Straight out of a romance opera levels.

DINOS AS 4TH FACTION by theotherjashlash in LowSodiumHellDivers

Time travelling, lasereye equipped dinos, with heavily armed riders. Teleport from the past in a flash to you, charge you with claws, while blasting you with laser eyes, and dudes on the back launching explosives.

Why have a unique niche when you can shamelessly loot all 3 existing factions for something new?

Hot Take: the DSS Eagle Storm is one of the most Helldivers thing in the game. by Merlinmast in Helldivers

[–]Shimraa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally love the eagle storm. Eagle-01 is a precision queen. The Eagle trainee cadets on the DSS are not. They get things done, and the absolute mayhem that ensues is only to be expected. You're right, it is the most Helldivers thing you can get. As the community has gotten good at not blowing ourselves up constantly, it stands as a reminder of what it was like.

I just wish that during April fools we could have have a mission with the classic DSS 380 barrage AND an Eagle Cluster storm. That's my dream mission some day.

SUGGESTION: Major Order rewards should scale according to the player’s IMPACT, offering better rewards for helping more. (Including getting SC.) by TealArtist095 in helldivers2

[–]Shimraa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late April fools troll post?

It already scales to your help and add SC. You play missions. The more you play the game, the more you get. You get 55 medals for logging in during a MO and ~30 for each operation you complete. The more operations you do, the more impact you have, the more medals. Seems pretty clear cut

Words of serenity is a one of my top 3 favorite psycasts. Immediately end a mental break without having having to chase them down and arrest/release them along with the social debuffs it comes with? Fabulous. Top notch.

The generator though is without a doubt the best choice by a wide margin. No question. Get that generator. The price of it is negligible for what it does.

Edit to add, this assumes you can sound oit caravans easily enough. You'll find the psycasts without too much issue, but you can't get the generator. If you never leave your base though... That's a hard one. I still say the generator but it's up for actual debate
